The animosity between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov is still going strong seven years after their historic UFC 229 clash. The latest example of this came when the Irishman made a series of posts after it was reported that ‘The Eagle’s tax troubles in his native Russia have compounded.

Nurmagomedov was accused of not paying around 300 million rubles (or around $3 million) in taxes by Russian tax authorities earlier this year. This had resulted in bank accounts of businesses and charities associated with him being frozen.

And now, according to reports from the Russian news outlet Mash, the Federal Tax Service of Russia has seized the Dagestani former lightweight champion’s personal bank accounts. This has tickled Conor McGregor to no end. The bombastic Irishman took to X and mocked the Khabib’s dire financial situation, writing: “😂 broke and on the run if you see him tell him push ups for cash.”

The ‘pushups for cash’ insult is a reference to an incident where Nurmagomedov allegedly made a homeless man do pushups in exchange for cash. His other rival Tony Ferguson had also taken an issue with this supposed incident on multiple occasions.

According to reports, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s troubles started after the tax authorities found some irregularities in the paperwork associated with the Dagestani legend’s businesses. This prompted a comprehensive audit of his companies. And it was this audit that led to the FTS charging Nurmagomedov with tax evasion. And while ‘Mac’ was uncharacteristically silent when the news of this first broke earlier this year, he seems to be intent on making up for it as he has sent another tweet ridiculing his most famous foe.

Conor McGregor continues taunting Khabib Nurmagomedov

Conor McGregor is going through a tough time. Having pulled out of his UFC 303 comeback bout against Michael Chandler after three years of inactivity, he is out of action for the near future, recovering from an injury.

And the Irishman is likely to have been in a gloomy state of mind because of this. But the news of ‘The Eagle’s troubles, who is essentially accused of theft, seems to have come as a silver lining in the otherwise grey clouds for him. The bombastic Dubliner sent out another tweet, in even worse taste, minutes after the above-mentioned tweet, continuing to pile on the beleaguered Dagestani.

“I heard he is now a porta potty in Dubai 😂 #whereiskhabib #gettings**tonindubaibyarab #portapotty #s**tonbuss**tonhim #khapoobear,” ‘Notorious’ wrote.

This is likely a reference to Nurmagomedov reportedly having taken Emirati citizenship shortly after his tax troubles surfaced. However, the Dagestani has invested a lot of money in the Middle East over the past decade, and has acquired an impressive and financially fruitful portfolio. Not to mention the relationships he has developed with the rulers of the UAE.

Which is why it is unlikely that Nurmagomedov will lack for funds, but his undoubtedly sizable assets in Russia are in jeopardy. And no one is happier than Conor McGregor. Who could blame him, given what happened in the octagon after their UFCC 229 clash ended.
