The east of the Las Vegas Strip witnessed a very bewildering event when UFC bewitched everyone with their flagship UFC Sphere event, headlined by Sean O’Malley and Merab Dvalishvili. One match that also had the fans buzzing was the clash between former featherweight title challenger, Brian Ortega and up-and-coming, Featherweight contender, Diego Lopes. Despite his best efforts, ‘T-City’ failed to overpower the Brazilian fighter. However, the defeat appears to be a small thing compared to what the fighter has faced after it.

Brian Ortega confronted a fan following his loss against Diego Lopes. Why, you might ask? Well, that’s because of the fact that the fan made insensitive comments about Ortega and his ex, Tracy Cortez. When ‘T-City’ was returning to his dressing room backstage, a fan hurled abuses at him when he said that Tracy Cortez would not want him now considering the fact that he lost the fight.

“Tracy ain’t not want you no more, Tracy’s done with you, Tracy’s done with you,” said the agitated fan. The bystander was not expecting Ortega to hear his words from a distance but the opposite happened as the former featherweight title contender plunged into action and ran behind the man. However, security intervened and pulled Ortega away, preventing the intended clash.

Brian Ortega and Tracy Cortez spent some time together as a couple under the promotion. They were considered a power couple. Their love for each other was so deep that ‘T-City’ even got a tattoo of Cortez’s initials on the inside of his lips. However, their relationship took a turn for the worse somewhere in between his injuries. Regardless, let us have a look at what the MMA community thinks about the ill behavior of the fan.

This is not the first time that the MMA community has called out one of their own. It’s not a new thing for the fans to call out their favorite stars after a defeat but there are some limitations to it. Especially when its the wrong comment at the wrong time. Looking at this, a fan wrote, “I love MMA but it has one of the worst fanbase on ANY sports. Not to mention it has the highest amount of crybabies.”

With a record of 16 victories and 4 defeats, Ortega is a veteran in this sport, who started his career under the tutelage of the promotion back in 2014. Disrespecting such a fighter with a nasty jab after a loss was disrespectful according to one user. They said, “Disrespect a vet and OG like that is just nasty work lol.”

Naturally, some fans expressed their disgust at the insensitive behavior of the man, “The only thing more clown behavior than saying this is filming it and posting it.” Another social media user emphasized that Ortega’s fans should have intervened,  “nah can’t be disrespecting like that. That’s a sucka move but his fans should’ve handled it.”

A social media user went as far as to state that some people inside the MMA community deserve a brutal beating on their own, “mma fans are insufferable and need to be beat in front of fellow mma fans by the fighters they talk s**t on only solution”

Last but not the least, a fan laid out his frustration on the internet, “Imagine taking a brutal loss and on your exit out you gotta deal with clown people like this. MMA “fan base” has to be the worst out of all sports.”

Brian Ortega and Tracy Cortez parted ways back in 2023 when Paulo Costa made it public that there had been problems going on around them.
