The UFC color commentator Joe Rogan has become synonymous with the UFC due to his long-term association with the promotion. The partnership, which is about to complete 26 years, propelled the podcaster to unscalable heights. Further, the comedian’s presence at the commentator’s desk during UFC events is a must for the fans. Therefore, the former Fear Factor host, who once got into a fight on the show, is often regarded as the best UFC commentator.

Also, the presumption remained unchallenged until the former UFC fighter, Brendan Schaub, picked another commentator from the promotion over the 55-year-old. ‘Busiest man’ Jon Anik, who has spent over a decade in the promotion, got the nod from the MMA-fighter-standup comic as he snubbed the usual choice, Joe Rogan.

Brendan Schaub’s Joe Rogan omission and his fans dividing opinion

Appearing on the latest episode of the series, Food Truck Diaries, Brendan Schaub, the former fighter, welcomed the play-by-play commentator, Jon Anik. Particularly, he started the episode with an introduction that caught the viewers’ attention. Thus, he declared, “He [Jon Anik] is the greatest commentator in combat sports period.”

However, as revealed by the host himself, securing the presence of the 44-year-old was not an easy task. Detailing the reason, Schaub called the Boston-born the busiest man in MMA. Later on, he heaped praise on him and expanded on his statements.

Hence, ‘Big Brown’ told his guest, “We’ve been trying to get on the show for a hot second. You’re the busiest man in mixed martial arts. You,
you hold on, you’re the busiest man in Combat Sports. I don’t think people realize your schedule.”

Notably, the former ESPN anchor started his association with UFC in 2011, and since then has remained an integral part of the promotion. He subsequently got a promotion to fill in Mike Goldberg’s void in 2017 and assumed the role of main play-by-play commentator for the PPVs. Significantly, the UFC awarded the American commentator and renewed his contract in Oct 2022.

Lastly, Schaub asserted, “When I hear they’re going to Perth or wherever Abu Dhabi, you’re on the marque. And you got to do the commentary. I’m like, I always think, man, poor Jon Anik.”
