UFC Lightweight contender Tony Ferguson is coming off a rough patch with 2 losses against the likes of Justin Gaethje and Charles Oliveira.

However, he was on an incredible run before that, having recorded 14 wins on the trot. He had dominated the entire weight class, and he is still a bigwig in the division regardless of his losses.

He is ranked #5 in the official UFC rankings and fights against contenders like Dan Hooker and Rafael dos Anjos. However, we have now learned that the UFC is planning to book him against Beneil Dariush on May 15th.

The Iranian-American fighter is ranked #8 in the rankings and has an impressive record of 20-4-1. He is on an incredible streak of 6 fights, with his last win coming over Carlos Ferreira on 6th February. The fight won the ‘Fight of the Night’ honor.

Ferguson has been asking for a fight for a while now. Contrary to Dariush, his last fight was a loss against Charles Oliveira, who climbed to #3 in the rankings.

The fight wasn’t completely one-sided, but Oliveira got the win via a unanimous decision. After that loss ‘El Cucuy’s‘ record reads 25 -5.

That streak might be in danger as Ferguson looks formidable and has his eyes set on another deep run at the Lightweight strap.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is still the current champion. He announced his retirement after his victory against Justin Gaethje, but UFC President Dana White is sure that he will fight again.
