Elite UFC middleweight Sean Strickland and Jack Hermansson are set to go to war on February 5 on the main card. Both men are ranked inside the top 10 of the division and are hopeful to close in on a title shot soon. Moreover, this fight makes a lot of sense since both men are placed right alongside each other in the rankings.
The middleweight division is moving along smoothly since Israel Adesanya has been defending his throne diligently. Strickland and Hermansson are two names who have managed to make an impact and could be viable contenders in 2022. Not to mention, they are fresh faces since many fighters above them in the rankings have already fought for UFC gold.

UFC middleweights: Jack Hermansson vs Sean Strickland
‘The Joker’ last fought in May 2021 where he secured a unanimous decision win over Edmen Shahbazyan in an impressive display. He has gone 2-2 in his last fought fights and will be looking to finally build some momentum. In order to actualize a title shot, he will have to stay the course and rack up a few back-to-back wins.
Hermansson is a menace on the ground and his grappling skills are amongst the best in the division. However, his submission game is no joke either as he proved when he faced Kelvin Gastelum and secured a heel hook in 1:18. Keeping a close-range output against Strickland would be the safest way to mount his offense.
Sean Strickland is on a tear in the division and is currently riding a five-fight win streak. He last picked up a unanimous decision win over Uriah Hall in July 2021 in his first ever UFC main event. Hermansson will be one of the biggest names on his resume and he’ll want to make his mark definitively in that fight.
Strickland is extremely fluid with his hands and Hermansson would be well advised to take the fight to the ground. ‘Tarzan’ embodies a wild style at times, however, he successfully masks it behind some polished techniques. Over the course of the fight, he tends to scale up his output and is a dangerous customer once he gets going.
