The one-month halt in UFC events has given matchmakers time to brainstorm suitable fights at the premier promotion. The UFC honchos are on a fight-setting spree for their winter and spring season. That being said, recent reports suggest a hard-hitting match between ranked light heavyweight prospects. Reportedly, a bout between 205-pounders Ryan Spann and Ion Cutelaba is in the works under UFC’s Fight Night banner.

MMA Island initially reported the news, which was later confirmed by MMA Fighting. Currently, Ryan Spann is coming off a loss against 205-pound elite Anthony Smith. The year has been a mixed blessing for ‘Superman’. The 30-year-old started the year with a first-round TKO of Misha Cirkunov. However, lost his latest one against light-heavyweight #4 Smith via a 1st round submission. Notably, he is 19-7 in his career.
Contrastingly, Ion Cutelaba is coming off a majority decision victory against Devin Clark. The Moldovan returned to the win column after a disappointing 2020. Where he lost two back-to-back losses against Magomed Ankalaev in the same year.

The UFC Fight Night event will take place on February 26th, 2022 at UFC Apex, Las Vegas, Nevada. Reportedly, the headliner for the event is an electrifying fight between lightweight veteran Beneil Dariush and Khabib Nurmagomedov’s compatriot Islam Makhachev.
