Nate Diaz took to Instagram recently to post a cryptic message. He posted a photo of him in fantastic shape captioning, “Defending in December.” Well, one might assume Diaz has hinted at a return for him to the UFC Octagon.
The Stockton native last fought at UFC 263 and lost a decision to Leon Edwards. Well, despite being dominated for 5 rounds, Diaz managed to steal the show at the final minute of the fight. He rocked ‘Rocky’ with a slap and punch combo. Many believe Diaz would have earned the finish if he had a bit more time on his side.

Diaz has now lost 2 in a row in the UFC. Prior to his loss to Edwards, Diaz suffered a T/KO loss by doctor stoppage to Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244. However, he made history in that fight as well. He was a part of the first BMF title fight which headlined the famous Madison Square Garden Arena.
His last win in the UFC was against Anthony Pettis at UFC 241. Diaz broke a long lay-off having fought at UFC 202 before that where he dropped a razor-close decision to Conor McGregor in their rematch having already submitted the Irishman at UFC 196.
Nate’s older brother, Nick Diaz, is set to return to the UFC Octagon next month at UFC 266. He will break his over 5-year long hiatus from competition against Robbie Lawler in a featured 5-round fight.

Who will Nate Diaz fight upon his return?
With Diaz, there will never be a shortage of opponents. He is one of the biggest names in the sport and everyone wants a piece of him. A trilogy fight against McGregor has been teased for a long time. But McGregor’s injury means that fight is off the cards.
Diaz has had some back-and-forths with Dustin Poirier recently. So, that might be a big possibility as a fight between the duo will be a barn-burner. A rematch against Jorge Masvidal looks unlikely too at this point. So, it’s hard to confirm anything regarding an opponent until any official statement is out.
