An air of uncertainty is looming over Michael Chandler‘s slated fight against Conor McGregor. Amidst contact callouts by the Irishman, fans started to believe that this fight would not take place. However, the former Bellator champion has seemingly indicated that the announcement of the fight against ‘The Notorious’ could be around the corner.

Conor McGregor has been on the news, challenging the BMF champion Justin Gaethje. And then, he even mentioned his urge to fight former rival Nate Diaz in a trilogy fight. It cast a shadow over Dana White‘s initial plan for the Irishman’s comeback. However, it seems like we might just get to see that fight.

Michael Chandler hints at an imminent announcement for the Conor McGregor fight

‘Iron’ recently shared a post on X (formerly Twitter), mentioning that he has an important day in Bristol, Connecticut. Moreover, he is going to be there at the ESPN headquarters. The reason behind his visit is to talk about the current season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ and also his probable fight against Conor McGregor.

“Headed to Bristol, CT now. Big day at [ESPN] HQ tomorrow- a few shows to talk about [TUF 31] and the fight between Conor and I,” said Michael Chandler.

Seeing that he mentioned the McGregor fight, a fan took the opportunity to ask him if the announcement for the fight was coming soon. Chandler replied by claiming that there are chances that it might get announced. He said, “Possibly.” Meanwhile, Conor McGregor has already talked about the timeline for the fight against ‘Iron’.

‘The Notorious’ to fight Chandler in December?

Conor McGregor made a lot of noise when he attended Anthony Joshua‘s fight against Robert Helenius last weekend. While getting into some post-fight antics, ‘The Notorious’ already provided a timeline for his plans regarding fighting. McGregor claimed that he’s looking to fight three fighters in the not-so-distant future.

While remaining adamant about fighting Justin Gaethje and Nate Diaz, he also assured that he’ll be fighting Michael Chandler in December. Moreover, he mentioned that he had to fight him since it was Dana White’s initial plan for him. People are speculating that the fight may take place at UFC 296, but we are yet to get an official word on that situation.

The biggest hurdle for Conor McGregor and his comeback has been his absence from the USADA’s testing pool. Fans are clamoring to see him fight again, but he is still not cleared and tested.
