Former UFC featherweight champion Germaine de Randamie is out of her UFC 268 contest against Irene Aldana once more. The news of her removal from the bout came via ESPN Deportes after ‘The Iron Lady’ reportedly suffered an injury.

Chiefly, this isn’t the first time that the bout is falling though and Aldana vs ‘GDR’ could be pushed back for the end of the year potentially. The first cancelation came after de Randamie suffered a broken hand and was forced to withdraw from the contest.

The scrap was targeted to take place on the undercard of the star-studded UFC 268 that is headlined by Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington. The fight card going down in Madison Square Garden is stacked and the cancelation of the aforementioned fight is a definitive blow.

An Overview of Irene Aldana vs Germaine de Randamie

Irene Aldana is 3-1 in her last four fights and is coming off a rather impressive display against Yana Kunitskaya in her last fight. The Mexican fighter stopped Kunitskaya with an onslaught of well-placed shots and truly solidified her place as a contender. While she won’t be favored to tango with ‘GDR’ on the feet, to say that Aldana is a walk-over would be an oversight.

Apart from having a solid bag of weapons on the feet, Aldana is an extremely physical presence on the ground as well. She is adept at securing positions and eventually navigating the space around her to secure a submission or dominant top control.

Germaine de Randamie bounced back from her title fight loss to Amanda Nunes and defeated Julianna Pena in her most recent scrap. This win has aged well considering that ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ is about to fight Nunes for UFC gold. ‘GDR’ has only lost to Amanda Nunes in the UFC on two occasions and has racked up wins over several other mainstay fighters.

‘The Iron Lady’ will certainly be favored when facing anyone not names Amanda Nunes. She’s a monster on the feet and can stop anyone with an array of striking weapons that have given all her opponents trouble.
