Diego Sanchez and Joshua Fabia: The path not taken

Sanchez has been at the end of much publicity because of his relationship with Fabia that stormed the headlines. In fact, the entire MMA community collectively spoke out against the obvious influence that Joshua Fabia was exercising over Sanchez. Fabia played a role in creating a divide between the UFC and Sanchez, thus ensuring that the Hall of Famer was denied his retirement fight.

Apart from his rather outlandish training regimes that fans disregarded, things got serious recently. Sanchez was supposed to fight ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at UFC Vegas 26, however, Fabia’s intervention prevented that from happening. In a recorded call to UFC brass, he shared concerns over Sanchez’s health, and then there was a refusal to comply with requests to review Sanchez’s medical history.

The UFC didn’t feel comfortable going ahead with the proceeding and terminated Diego Sanchez’s contract. What’s more, in the wake of the cancelation, both men claimed that the UFC was out to assassinate them. The MMA community was largely of the belief that Fabia spurred these claims.
