UFC 303 went through some tumultuous times, with Conor McGregor withdrawing after a lot of hype because of a toe injury and Alex Pereira replacing him. However, the bout did not fail to impress the fans and Dana White and Co yet again gave an amazing show. Jiri Prochazka and Alex Pereira’s rematch did serve the viewers with entertainment as ‘Poatan’ won the fight via high kick in the second round. With Pereira winning back-to-back fights and stepping up in crucial situations, Dana White might have already started considering the fighter to be the new face of MMA.
This was expected to draw criticism from Conor McGregor with some even speculating a feud between the two fighters. However, McGregor took to his X handle to quash all such rumors while also offering an update on his comeback.

‘The Notorious’ had to withdraw because of a broken toe in the final weeks before the fight, and this caused a drastic shift in UFC 303. Alex Pereira came to save the day and won to protect his light heavyweight title. Meanwhile, ‘Poatan’ had suffered a broken toe of his own as well before UFC 300, but he returned to the card and KO-ed Jamahal Hill. Again, like a true hero, he fought two months later with negligible time to prepare, and the UFC champ proved his worth again.
However, he only had good words for McGregor and said “You can never judge people’s pain,” during UFC 303 media day. He explained, “For me, it was better to fight, even with a broken finger. I think he did the best. Maybe instead I would have done the same. “ So clearly he understands McGregor’s reasons to heal and come back stronger, and it might be sooner than we anticipate.
McGregor was elated about this verdict and appreciated the support from ‘Poatan’. Surprisingly ‘Mystic Mac’ also announced the possibility of a new date for his fight. He shared a snippet of the same interview and wrote on X, “Real recognize real. Excited to secure my new date.”

This zeal from the Brazilian not only impressed McGregor but also Dana White, who gave the 35-year-old’s important position to Alex Pereira.

Recently a famous MMA reporter, Jason Hagholm, uploaded information on X that might change everything. The UFC CEO confirmed that the former two-division fighter had the 3rd and 4th highest numbers in gates. The tweet read, “Dana White says the third & fourth highest gates are Alex Pereira’s, so he may be the face of MMA now.”

UFC fans already know that ‘Mystic Mac’ is one of the very few fighters who has the potential to take a fight gate sale as high as $20 million. However, the fighter with hands of stone might soon catch up to this record. UFC 303 supposedly earned almost $15 million from live gates and had a huge fan attendance of 18,881 fans who were present in the T Mobile arena.
This falls as the 4th highest gate in the history of UFC and that too on such short notice. McGregor could have given more numbers however, the boss was happy with what turned out for UFC 303 and was proud of him. Do you think that Alex Pereira is going to become the new face of the UFC?
