After concluding 2021 on a grand scale, the UFC brass is back to the drawing board to make fights for the upcoming year. Reportedly, UFC will decide on fights that will take place in the spring and summer of the next year. However, according to ESPN, the UFC has already confirmed a bantamweight collision. It will be between Mexicans Alejandro Pérez and Jonathan Martínez under the UFC Fight Night banner.
Reportedly, ‘Turbo’ and ‘Dragon’ accepted the offer after some negotiations with UFC. Presently, the promotion hasn’t finalized the venue for the fight as yet. However, the duo will walk into the octagon together on 26th February, next year.

Alejandro Pérez is a UFC veteran, who has been with the promotion since 2014. The 32-year-old also is the winner of the first season of The Ultimate Fighter. Notably, Pérez is coming off a win against Johnny Eduardo in October this year. ‘Turbo’ won the fight in the second round of the bout by submitting Eduardo. The win also helped Pérez snap his two-fight losing skid.

Young blood Jonathan Martínez is also off to a win against Zviad Lazishvili. He won the fight through a unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 196 on October 23rd. The win helped him get back to the win column after Davey Grant. ‘Dragon’ currently has 14 wins and 4 losses registered to his name.
What other fights are on the UFC Fight Night card
According to ESPN, the Alejandro Pérez versus Jonathan Martínez bout will take place on the same day as Beneil Dariush vs Islam Makhachev. Whereas the Makhachev fight will be the main card for the event.

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s disciple Islam Makhachev is currently on a nine-fight winning streak after dominating Dan Hooker in his last bout. Similarly, Beneil Dariush(21-4-1) is also riding a 7 fight winning streak. His latest victim being UFC legend Tony Ferguson.

Interestingly, their match will serve as a title eliminator, as both Dariush and Makhachev are ranked #3 and #4, respectively, on the lightweight charts.
