UFC 302 is right on the horizon as Islam Makhachev ended the press conference with a heated moment while facing off against Dustin Poirier. A lot of words were said, but about what? That might need some decoding. Meanwhile, a member of Conor McGregor‘s team has come out to respond to Makhachev’s “team vs team” challenge.

Ahead of the fight, Islam Makhachev, in an interview, touched on the idea of a Conor McGregor fight, where he expressed wanting to see a team brawl between his and the Irishman’s squads. The 32-year-old may not have been serious, but one of McGregor’s SBG teammates seems to have been triggered by the lightweight champion’s words.

Conor McGregor’s Straight Blast Gym, with coach John Kavanagh, has produced countless combat sports talents, both retired and active. Some of them also compete in Dana White‘s promotion, and the person who stood up for him against Islam Makhachev also trains in that gym – Johnny Walker. The 32-year-old Brazilian connected on an Insta post and warned the lightweight champion.

“Be careful I’m on his team and the whole Brazilian favela so be careful what you wishes for,” wrote Johnny Walker. It was interesting that he claimed the favela would come out for Conor McGregor, given that almost a decade ago, Conor McGregor was arguably the most hated MMA fighter in Brazil during his rivalry with Jose Aldo.

But Walker wasn’t the only one who stepped up to Islam Makhachev’s challenge. Conor McGregor’s former BJJ coach and friend, Dillon Danis, also responded to the lightweight champion, claiming that he wasn’t staying that far away from the hotel where the UFC 302 fighters were staying.

“Let’s do it I’m in NJ. The fighter hotel is 5 mins from me tell me time and place,” commented Dillon Danis. Now that two of his teammates are ready, we’ll have to wait and see if Conor McGregor will accept Islam Makhachev’s proposal. Apart from this drama, the lightweight champion recently shared a one-word description of ‘The Notorious’ that might be to the liking of the former double champion.

Makhachev has only one word to describe his mentor’s arch-rival

Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s protégé recently played a fun game of describing a fighter in one word. Through his answers, Islam Makhachev proved that he lacks any kind of filter. While he described his former rival Alexander Volkanovski as “short,” he would describe his mentor and the 29-0 legend as “pressure,” which is how ‘The Eagle’ approaches every fight. Then came Conor McGregor.

What is Conor McGregor famous for? His signature left hand, and that is what Islam Makhachev had to say about the Irishman. ‘The Notorious had his big moments, and the current lightweight champion appears to acknowledge those achievements. But what does that mean for the team vs team street fight?

We don’t know for sure if Islam Makhachev is serious about the brawl, but there is little chance that something like this will go past Dana White without serious repercussions. As long as they’re both a part of UFC, Conor McGregor and Makhachev are unlikely to brawl outside the Octagon. More importantly, the Irishman may not want to repeat the brawl he started with Khabib Nurmagomedov back in 2018.
