Have you ever wondered why UFC CEO Dana White would support a boxer when he’s not making a cent off him? Well, the undefeated Irish boxing prospect may just have the answer. In a recent conversation, he shared why Dana White is so invested in his career, and it’s not about the money, as you might think.

At 23, Callum Walsh was already making waves in the boxing world with an unblemished 12-0 record. But what truly sets him apart isn’t just his victories, it’s his mentality. On a recent appearance in ‘Overdogs Podcast with Mike Perry’, the Irish boxer was asked about his approach to the sport, and his response might surprise you.

I don’t care who I fight,” he said, adding, “Just tell me the date and I’ll show up...I train very hard, I show up to gym all the time… I wanna fight everyone they put in front of me.” Sounds pretty familiar, right? It’s the kind of mentality White admires, one that’s all about fighting the best to prove you’re the best. And that’s exactly why Dana has been such – a tremendous supporter of Walsh.

But here’s where it gets interesting. Walsh points out that the UFC boss isn’t making any money from him. “Everybody talks s**T about Dana, but I don’t even have a contract with Dana. Dana makes no money from me, he gets nothing from me,” the rising star says candidly.

Despite this, Walsh credits White for playing a key role in his career transformation. “I don’t ask questions, I’m not looking for this that anything, I just want to be the best in the world,” he said. It’s probably this ‘no questions asked, no picking and choosing’ attitude that resonated with White.

Dana White’s history shows there’s more to him!

Let’s dive a little deeper here. Why is Dana White so determined to back Walsh, even in a sport traditionally outside the UFC’s domain? It’s because White has always been about vision, not just immediate payday. Though White has long criticized the fragmented nature of boxing, where multiple belts make it harder to know who the real champion is.

But Walsh doesn’t seem to care about the politics. “I know it’s like I’m bringing that UFC mindset to boxing. I don’t care. It’s like the best thing about the UFC is there’s one belt per division.
