Dana White and Aljamain Sterling can’t seem to be on the same page. After his latest victory against Henry Cejudo at UFC 288, ‘Funk Master’ expected to receive some time off to recover. Instead, he was awarded a fight against Sean O’Malley scheduled for UFC 292. The bantamweight champion didn’t seem to agree to fight ‘Sugar’ so soon. He wished for a bit more time and respect.
Without any shilly-shally, Sterling retaliated against White’s decision. His unruly words against the UFC president stirred up the entire universe of combat sports. Recently, ‘Funk Master’ took up arms once again as he took to Twitter and expressed himself. He declared that although he was only a phone call away, White should have consulted him before putting him up in the cage. Nevertheless, he announced that he would indeed show up for the fight against Sean O’Malley.

After going on and off about UFC 292, Sterling has finally agreed to show up for the fight against ‘Suga’. Immense heat emanated from the arena when O’Malley entered the cage with a challenge thrown toward Sterling. Caught in the moment, ‘Funk Master’ declared that he was willing to fight ‘Sugar’ in September. However, the UFC boss decided to schedule the fight for August. Sterling was not pleased with the decision.
I’m a phone call away boss! Respectfully, you made a fight, the night of the fight, without a single word of it mentioned to me or checking on my injuries. I have a personal life outside of fighting. But once again, I’ll show up and piss in everyone’s Cheerios…again.
Cheers 🥂— Aljamain Sterling (@funkmasterMMA) May 24, 2023
He retaliated and dissed White for not consulting with him and giving him time to recover from his last fight. Although he declared that he gave his word and was willing to show up for the fight, his displeasure was still skyrocketing. The bantamweight champion went on Twitter to express his disagreement with the UFC boss.
He wrote, “I’m a phone call away boss! Respectfully, you made a fight, the night of the fight, without a single word of it mentioned to me or checking on my injuries. I have a personal life outside of fighting. But once again, I’ll show up and pi*s in everyone’s Cheerios…again. Cheers.”

Previously, Sterling used YouTube to spread his word. Following his tentative announcement of withdrawing from UFC 292, he asked the MMA world to see whether his lingering injuries were coming up and how his body is responding.
Thereafter, Sterling mimicked White’s response. He then revealed his desire to be treated like Conor McGregor. He said, “Whenever Conor does something, ‘Oh my God! Isn’t he awesome’. Like, can I be awesome too? I’m not asking for much.”
