Bobby Green showed Islam Makhachev the mirror at the UFC Vegas 49 media day scrum after the latter told the media that he was sure of his win against the unranked lightweight.
Ever since ‘King’ Bobby Green took the Makhachev fight on ten days’ short notice, he has been vouching for an entertaining bout. Going against his typical silent behavior, Makhachev also didn’t hold his words prior to the contest. However, Green also had the perfect answer for the elite Russian grappler.

On the media day scrum, Green accused Makhachev of ‘stealing’ from his mentor UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov.
He said, “I think that’s kinda dope, you know, I think it’s dope. Yeah, say what you gotta say, brother. Nobody holding you from back from your words. Say what you say. You are kind of stealing from your big, your big brother Khabib. That was his sh*t. So, you are still, you are jocking his swag. If he wants to talk, let’s talk. But it’s gonna be fun, it’s gonna be fun. That’s all I want to do is make sure that it’s fun.”
Although not a big deal for him, this statement has just added to the stereotype of Makhachev being nothing but just a shadow of the former UFC lightweight champion.
Islam Makhachev was supposed to fight the #3 lightweight Beneil Dariush in the main event of UFC Vegas 49. However, that fight fell through after the Iranian- American fighter withdrew because of an injury he suffered during training.
With Dariush out of the picture, Makhachev believes Green won’t be a big hurdle on his run for the lightweight gold.
