Former UFC dual-champion Conor McGregor always finds a way to stay in the news. This time, he is making headlines for all the right reasons. Earlier this year, the Irish MMA icon announced that he’s now a part-owner of BKFC through his venture, ‘McGregor Sports and Entertainment.’ Since then, ‘The Notorious’ has been actively promoting the organization and wants to convert it into a global phenomenon.
There’s hardly any fighter who can pull in a crowd like Conor McGregor does. BKFC President David Feldman is highly impressed with the Dubliner and his thought process. In a recent interview, he pointed out the difference he has made since becoming a part of the BKFC.

Conor McGregor has been working diligently to return to the octagon after a lengthy absence. While he was originally scheduled to compete at UFC 303, an injury to his pinky toe forced him to withdraw. As he continues to recover from his injury, McGregor has been involved in other projects, including the inaugural BKFC event in Spain, which proved to be a blockbuster outing.
While the fighters put on a show for the fans, McGregor’s presence also played a massive role in making that event a success. President Feldman sat down for a chat with Mike Owens of Inside Fighting on his YouTube channel. He seemed fairly happy with the way the event turned out but did take the time to highlight the impact the Dubliner has had. According to him, the promotion numbers have increased ten times since Mystic Mac’s arrival.
He said, “Yeah I mean when he comes to an event. He talks about the event and he does things at the event. It goes crazy you know. We were up against a very big boxing match this weekend on the zone as well. ”
On being asked about the kind of impact McGregor has had on the viewership, he said, “And I don’t know what the viewership numbers are, but I know that our social media metrics have 10 X to anything else that was out there. You know ten times the amount of viewership. Ten times the amount of engagement and that is a lot I mean.”

At 36 years of age, McGregor is definitely in the twilight of his career. With only two fights left on his UFC contract, it seems he has found himself an impressive retirement plan. However, just like his UFC career, he is not here to participate but rather wants to take over and become the best. The Irishman showed a glimpse of it at the recently concluded BKFC event in Spain, which surprised everyone.

Conor McGregor’s gesture surprises not only the fans but also the President
Franco Tenaglia won the BKFC lightweight title after a brutal five-round war against his opponent, Tony Soto in the main event of the BKFC on DAZN event. It was the perfect ending for BKFC’s first-ever event in Spain. And this gave McGregor a different opportunity way to reward his fighters.
BKFC President David Feldman was in the middle of announcing the bonuses. This is when the former dual-champion interrupted him with an impressive gesture. McGregor grabbed the microphone and declared that both Tenaglia and Soto would get their purses doubled. The Irishman announced with delight, “No, no, no, no. We are going to do bonuses, yes, but what we are going to do for these gentlemen is double their pay!”

The announcement of the increased purse for the main event combatants came as a surprise to everyone, particularly Feldman, who was momentarily taken aback. McGregor, as a co-owner of BKFC, is well aware of the pay disparities in the sport and believes in the importance of fair compensation for fighters. He felt that a fight of this magnitude deserved a significantly larger purse than the standard amount. Tenaglia later expressed his gratitude to McGregor for his generosity and initiative.
McGregor seems to be determined to take BKFC to new heights and is working in the right direction. However, the fans would love to see in return to action inside the Octagon soon. When will ‘Mystic Mac’ make a comeback? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
