After fighting for himself in the courtrooms for the civil assault case by Nikita Hand, former dual weight champion, Conor McGregor is back in business as a promoter for the BKFC. ‘Notorious, wears many hats as a fighter, media personality, and, most importantly, an entrepreneur. In his most recent escapade, McGregor has hyped up another BKFC prospect even though the promotion might keep away from the former UFC champ.

Taking to his Instagram handle, the former dual-weight champion of the world shared a video posted by DAZN on his story, which showcases undefeated BKFC fighter Leonardo Perdomo. Perdomo is set to face Brazilian Levi Da Costa at BKFC on DAZN 3. Conor McGregor captioned the video with a single quote that was targeted to clinch more viewership for BKFC, “This Saturday on Dazn.” This event is a massive one for BKFC because it is the promotion’s debut on DAZN streaming service. So, why is the former UFC dual-weight champion hyping up Perdomo? Well, that’s because the 28-year-old fighter is one of the best talents to come out of Cuba. Besides that, he is considered as the Cuban Mike Tyson. Pedramo is a 235 lbs heavyweight fighter with a record of 5 fights and 5 victories. All of his professional fights have ended in knockouts. In addition to that, ‘The Cuban Mike Tyson’ has an amateur record of almost 200 fights.

Conor McGregor is pretty excited about BKFC’s first streaming event at DAZN as he shared other fights in his timeline as well, but the fans are particularly excited about the Cuban Mike Tyson fight. Let’s have a look at what the fans have to say about the clash.

Conor McGregor’s promotion of Leonardo Perdomo backfires as fans downplay his prowess

Arguably the biggest star in the history of boxing, Mike Tyson held a record of 50 victories and 6 defeats. Tyson was the youngest ever to win a heavyweight title in professional boxing at the age of 20 years, four months, and 22 days. He was so skilled that none of his opponents were able to stop him in his prime, looking at this a fan wrote,“Can we stop comparing people to make tyson, no one is similar to his skill and style.”

What’s your perspective on:

Is Conor McGregor's hype for Leonardo Perdomo justified, or is the 'Cuban Mike Tyson' comparison too much?

Well, amidst the rejection, a curious social media user emphasized that he would be watching Perdomo’s fight as he is a beast in the making, “I’ve seen every single one of his fights live and I will this weekend as well. The dude is a beast.” Furthermore, another man stated that Mike Tyson and Leonardo Perdomo’s names shouldn’t be in the same sentence, “Mike Tyson & that dude shouldn’t be in the same sentence.” Perdomo might have won his first 5 fights by way of knockout but Tyson won his first 19 professional fights by knockout, 12 of them in the first round. Mike Tyson’s image is tied to the emotions of the fans and according to them, it’s rather unfair to compare them.

Moreover, another fan called out the promotion for calling Perdomo, the next Mike Tyson. They said,“Was he knocking out 19 and 21-year-old professional fighters when he was 14 years old? I don’t think so. They’ll never be another Mike Tyson.” A fan even closely scrutinized Perdomo’s boxing record as he exposed the fighter, “Just the stats on the BKFC page.. he fought 3 guys in their 40’s.. and out of the 5 competitors only 3 of them had a winning record.” In his amazing boxing career, Mike Tyson has defeated 44 of his opponents by way of knockouts and fans couldn’t see a comparison between Perdomo and Tyson,“Don’t be ridiculous no one has the ferocity of Mike Tyson.”

Well, it’s quite early to compare the young fighter to Mike Tyson but it’s quite wrong to break his morale. Regardless, Conor McGregor is looking to cement his status as a promoter. What are your thoughts on the BKFC care? State your thoughts in the comments below.
