Conor McGregor has been critical of the ruling party since the failed immigration problem that the country is facing now. The horrific stabbing incident that left three innocent children injured last year fueled a call for a change of government by the Irish public and amid the hubbub, McGregor lent his voice to the movement. ‘The Notorious’ has been making comments about getting into politics since last year but it appears that as the Irish general elections are near, the UFC star is about to make a comeback of the century.

How? Well, it appears that after conquering the MMA and business side of his life, Conor McGregor is willing to take a shot at politics. The former dual weight champion took to his X handle to add a post that hinted at his inclusion in the presidential elections about to happen in 2025. A part of his long X post read, “The people of Ireland deserve the answers they seek. Point blank. This would be my power as President. I know very well. Ireland needs an active President employed wholly by the people of Ireland. It is me. I am the only logical choice. 2025 is upcoming…”

His announcement has been shared massively by every platform across the Internet and Tech Mogul, Elon Musk appears to be loving it. The $198 billion man took to his X handle to add a simple comment on McGregor’s announcement post, “Awesome”

Have an interesting take?

It must be noted that just a month ago, Conor McGregor called out the ruling government for the mishandling of the crucial immigration policy. “For too long Ireland has put up with policies that do not ensure that those entering our country are of the character, skills and desire to benefit Ireland. WE WILL NEVER ACCEPT THIS BETRAYAL OF OUR COUNTRY.” Interestingly, this is not the first time that Elon Musk has supported McGregor.

The time when Elon Musk openly called for McGregor’s presidential candidature

Back in 2023, Conor McGregor made a post on his X-handle that suggested that he would be very soon forming his own party and make sure that he makes it through 2024 to be able to run for president in 2025. He took to X and said, “It would not be me in power as president, people of Ireland. It would be me and you.” Not only that, McGregor mocked the other candidates as well.

He further added “I listen. I support. I adapt. I have no affiliation, bias, favouritism toward any party. They would genuinely be held to account regarding the current sway of public feeling. I’d even put it all to vote. There’d be votes every week to make sure. I can fund.” The fiery post by the former dual-weight champion saw support from Elon Musk who replied to him by saying, “I think you could take them all single-handed. Not even fair.”

It must be noted that the X post is not an official confirmation by Conor McGregor to actively participate in politics. We have to wait for astute proof other than a social media post to conclude things. Regardless, what’s your take on the hubbub? State your thoughts in the comments below.
