The entire world has been waiting eagerly to watch the showdown between Tom Aspinall and Jon Jones ever since the Brit became the interim heavyweight champion. Even Dana White confirmed, “It’s a massive fight in the history of the company.” He knows this title unification bout between Jones and Aspinall is huge. And Dana usually doesn’t make big promises, but he’s all in on this one.
Even ‘Bones’ didn’t back off from asking massive “f–k you” money for the fight. Well, of course, it would be one of the most exciting matches that could garner a massive influx of PPV buys. But the question that has boggled the netizens is whether ‘Honey Badger’ would get his cut of PPV money or not.
Paul Felder and Michael Bisping recently sat down together and discussed the financial part of the matchup. Felder asked, “Now since Tom is the interim but he’s not the champion, I guess, do you think they’ll give him any cut of the pay-per-view for that?” ‘The Count’ wasted no time in saying, “100%.” Fighting Jones would be pretty big for the interim champion. And Jones’ stardom would never fail to attract hordes of fight fans.

Felder continued, “Because that’s big enough, right? Even if his contract stays the same for his money, you want that fight with Jon because of that reason right there. That it could be the biggest fight in UFC history, and that alone will get you everything that you need to go with it. And then obviously, if you beat Jon, this guy is the limit from there. Then you’re making crazy pay-per-view money.”
Bisping had to agree. After all, the interim championship belt did have a lot of weightage in the fight promotion. The MMA analyst said, “Of course. And I would assume that once you become the interim champ, you automatically get the standard cut of the pay-per-view points.”

But do you know what Tom Aspinall thinks of his payday for the mega fight? The Britisher simply wants to sit on the throne without much regard for the payday. Let’s take a look at Aspinall’s mindset before the matchup against Jones.
Would Tom Aspinall earn a huge sum of money for fighting Jon Jones?
During a conversation with Piers Morgan not too long ago, Aspinall declared that Dana White would indeed pay ‘Bones’ a massive sum of money to fight him. Previously, Brendan Schaub speculated that the numbers for Jones might go up to $15 or $20 million. On the other hand, the ‘Honey Badger’ knew that he would receive a significantly smaller amount.

However, it wasn’t the money that mattered the most to the British mixed martial artist. Aspinall said, “I don’t really care about money at this point. Obviously, I’ve got a family [and] I want to make as much money as I can. But to me, what’s more important is unifying belts. Jon often likes to talk about legacy, his history, and all this stuff. It’s not about Jon. It’s about the belt and I wanna be the unified champion.”
Needless to say, things have started to change in the heavyweight realm. Tom Aspinall, who often lashed out at Jones for apparently ducking him, realized that all the heavyweight champ wanted was more money to fight him. After all, the risk was higher for Jones than it was for him. How much do you think Aspinall would receive in the PPV cut if he won against Jones in a mega event?
