Is Joe Rogan being unfairly targeted for his opinions, or is the backlash justified?

Joe Rogan is under fire from the former President of the United States! The UFC commentator has ruffled feathers after he spoke in support of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for the upcoming Presidential election. This prompted Donald Trump, who apparently felt quite aggrieved, and told his supporters to boo Rogan the next time he enters the UFC octagon.

However, legendary MMA referee and Rogan’s friend, ‘Big’ John McCarthy, incensed at Rogan catching so much flak, took to social media to defend the JRE podcast host. McCarthy waxed eloquent about Rogan’s purported objectivity and ability to listen to ideas from different sides, and defended his right to speak in favor of any candidate he finds better.

“It’s crazy that every year it seems I come onto this platform to defend my friend @joerogan ….People why is it this man cannot have his own opinion? He is the greatest communicator of all sides . He does not show bias when he interviews people be they right, left or somewhere in the middle… He knows both RFK jr. and Donald Trump. He is entitled to speak up for either of them and has done so quite often. We all must choose someone to vote for in November. You should not be making your choice based upon @joerogan opinion or anyone else’s,” McCarthy wrote in a lengthy Twitter post.

In addition, he advised Rogan’s fans to not get their political opinion or decide who they vote for based upon what the UFC commentator says, but actually analyze which candidate would be better for the country.

“Who is the person not that you personally like the best, but who is the person who will do things to better the lives of American citizens across the country… If Joe wants to endorse someone don’t be upset because he has a bigger platform then you do and feel he could sway people. Feel good that at this time of complexity and sometimes chaos in our world there is someone like Joe Rogan who allows all voices, all opinions and all ideas to be heard by you and that in turn allows you to make a more informed decision . God Bless @joerogan,” he added. But not only did ‘Big John’ defend his friend against charges of being partisan, Rogan himself clarified that he wasn’t really in the endorsing business at all. At least for this election cycle.

Joe Rogan clarifies he didn’t endorse RFK Jr. over Donald Trump

What’s your perspective on:

Is Joe Rogan being unfairly targeted for his opinions, or is the backlash justified?

Have an interesting take?

Donald Trump is perhaps the most divisive figure in all aspects of American life at the moment. Because of this, he attracts love and dedication from his supporters and equally potent animosity from detractors. It was therefore not surprising to see Rogan get absolutely bodied by the former President’s supporters over his alleged endorsement for RFK.

This prompted Rogan, with tail between his legs, to clarify that his saying RFK Jr. ‘made the most sense’ to him, wasn’t an actual official endorsement on his part. The UFC commentator also reiterated that he was not actually

“For the record, this isn’t an endorsement. This is me saying that I like RFKjr as a person, and I really appreciate the way he discusses things with civility and intelligence. I think we could use more of that in this world,” Rogan wrote in part in a Twitter post after the backlash from MAGA-world, before going on to praise Trump and his fighter spirit.

Rogan also commended Trump’s defiant, fist-in-the-air pose after the assassination attempt last month as “one of the American f***ing things” he has ever seen, and told fans to listen to his friend Dave Smith if they needed information on politics. While this may have pacified some Trump supporters, others have already written him off since he didn’t endorse their favorite candidate. But Rogan, of course, is no stranger to being targeted by online mobs, and has developed quite a thick skin to it. What are your thoughts on Joe Rogan and John McCarthy’s response to the JRE host being dragged through the mud?
