Ryan Garcia has become a boxing superstar since he spectacularly defeated Devin Haney two months ago. The build-up to the Haney fight was the most entertaining and amusing build-up to any fight in recent times.
With his wild, party-boy persona and unpredictable shenanigans, Garcia is perhaps the most entertaining fighter in all of combat sports at the moment. UFC welterweight and superstar Colby Covington is also one of Garcia’s fans. He recently spoke about his experience with ‘King Ry’ on the ‘Soscast’ podcast with Adam Sosnick.

‘Chaos’ told Sosnick that he met up with Ryan Garcia at a recent gala, where he witnessed and took note of Garcia’s legendary left hook, which is probably the quickest in the business.
“Ryan’s cool, you know. He took time to show me a trick his famous left hook… He’s knocked down a lot of people with that left hook, so it’s lightning-fast. I just wanted to kind of see it and see what that timing was like,” Covington said.
Garcia had allegedly been partying before the Haney fight and even weighed 3 pounds over the weight limit while drinking a beer. In addition, he had been sending cryptic tweets in the lead-up to the fight, which had many wondering if he was having a mental breakdown.

Things weren’t looking good for Garcia, and he was widely expected to lose. However, the fight turned out to be one-sided with Garcia dominating almost the entirety of the bout. Since his victory, the superstar boxer has been claiming that all of his antics were just for show to catch Haney by surprise. Covington, who partied with Garcia recently, told Sosnick that Garcia was as wild as he seemed based on his recent shenanigans.
“But you know honestly, it was weird that he came out and said all that stuff was a gimmick on your podcast. Because you know after hanging out with him at the gala, like he really is a wild boy. So I don’t know why he’s trying to like tell the fans that he’s not wild ‘cuz he really is wild,” Covington revealed.

Covington wants Garcia to lean into his bad-boy image rather than portraying himself otherwise, however, he does understand that Garcia probably “wants sympathy” and that’s why he is trying to portray himself differently.
‘Chaos’ has some advice for Garcia
Covington advised Ryan Garcia to be unapologetic and shy away from his public perception. ‘Chaos’ plays a loud-mouthed, villainous character in public. It has brought him tremendous success throughout his career. Perhaps because of this, he feels it would be better and more profitable for Garcia to commit to his image and make headlines and money.

“I think he wants sympathy to be painted in a good picture. But you know live your life do your thing, you’re doing big things. Nothing but respect for him,” Covington added.
‘Chaos’, who spares no opportunity to try and trash talk other fighters, was, however, remarkably respectful and complimentary of Garcia on the Soscast podcast. What are your thoughts on Covington’s claims about Ryan Garcia?
