This weekend, the lightweight title will be on the line as the champion, Islam Makhachev, faces the contender, Dustin Poirier, in a highly anticipated clash. Well, alongside the star-studded lightweight bout between Makhachev and Poirier, we have Paulo Costa, Sean Strickland, and many more fighters who are about to lock horns against each other. We know about their fights, but do we know about their walkout songs?

The inception of walkout songs in the promotion started when Dana White took the helm of the institution back in 2001. According to White, he was inspired by Mike Tyson’s electrifying walkouts. This forced the UFC supremo to maintain a commentary and production start that is yet to be replicated by any other promotion. Ahead of the UFC 302 mega-card on Saturday, let us take a look at which songs the stars are likely to walk out to.

Dana White has gone all out on UFC 302. The card will be headlined by Dustin Poirier, who will be fighting for the lightweight title against the champion, Islam Makhachev. Excluding the title fight, the main card is packed with some tremendous fights. Well, we will get back to it later. Now let’s see what the main walkout songs are for the fighters who are fighting on the main card.

Dustin Poirier has stated that this might be his last fight, irrespective of the decision of their bout. ‘The Diamond’ has been with the UFC for a long time and with three chances at the UFC title (including this bout), it has been a good journey for the Louisiana native but it has been enough for the uncrowned prince to call for retirement. For his arguably last fight before retirement, Poirier will walkout on a mashup between Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds’ and ‘The Boss’ by James Brown.

Islam Makkhachev has always used a single song for his walkout. What is it you ask? Well, it’s ‘Dreams’ By DJ Nariman which is a composition by Russian artist Ahiska. The Dagestani loves his country music and has always been walking out with nothing except his country’s songs. The All-American fighter, Sean Strickland, has a song that resonates with him at UFC 302, ‘Tarzan’ would be using ‘When Johnny Comes Marching Home’, an American Civil War era song.

The Brazilian fighter, Paulo Costa uses multiple songs for his walkout. For his last fight against Robert Whittaker, ‘Eraser’ walked out to the arena with ‘Clubbed to Death’ by Rob Dougan, from ‘The Matrix.’In his earlier fights, Costa has also used, ‘Divisa De Fogo’ by Grupo Fogo no Pe and ‘X Gon’ Give It to Ya’. As of now, it’s not sure what he going to use as his walkout song. Maybe he will surprise us all.

Which songs will the other stars walk out to?

While the UFC 302 has some of the most anticipated headliners. The other fights on the card are likely to be equally exciting. In one of the prominent bouts, Kevin Holland would be squaring off against Michal Oleksiejczuk. In Holland’s last bout against Michael Page, ‘Trailblazer’ walked out with ‘02.02.99’ by That Mexican OT. His opponent Oleksiejczuk’s last walkout song was Potop Muzyka z Filmu Choragwie Rzeczpospolitej” by Kazimierz Serocki.

We have a welterweight bout as well, between Niko Price and Alex Morono. Price might be walking out with ‘Glory to God’ by KJ-52, while Morono might be walking out with ‘Enemies’ by Eleine. Another match on the main card is between Randy Brown and Elizeu Zaleski Dos Santos. Brown would be walking out with ‘Lime Light’ by Masicka, while Dos Santos would walk out with “The Final Countdown” by Europe.
