Jon Jones is now a military man. Taking to his Instagram, the UFC heavyweight announced, “Lieutenant Bones at your service.” With UFC retirement nearing, did Jon Jones actually enroll in the military? Well, not exactly. The Instagram post was a promotion for his upcoming short film named Edo’s Crossing. Based on a true story, the movie is about the close-knit bond between a Navy SEAL and his field canine.
This will be his second venture right after making his debut on the screen via the Netflix series, ‘Cage,’ based on the lives of MMA fighters. Calling it ‘only the beginning,’ Jones is all set to turn himself into a Hollywood star. But what other MMA fighters have dabbled in the entertainment industry? There are many, to be honest, and today we are going to rank them from the best to the worst, based on their performance on the silver screen. So, without further ado, let’s find out which MMA star left a major mark through their acting chops.

Do we even need an introduction for this one? The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion can be called the biggest X factor in the Dana White-led promotion that made the UFC as big as it is right now. Conor McGregor has been an instrumental figure in promoting the sport, and his brash attitude with impeccable mic skills made him the perfect villain that everyone loved. So, it shouldn’t be a surprise that ‘The Notorious’ decided to get into the world of acting.

He made his acting debut earlier this year by playing a villain in the remake of Road House starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Capitalizing on his ever-so-notorious personality, he became a character that became an unstoppable force against Gyllenhaal’s character. In fact, he even earned critical fame, with many praising the fact that the Irishman was the perfect mean-spirited, trash-talking villain the movie needed, and it was a standout performance by the Irish superstar.
Randy Couture
By now, he would be better known as Toll Road to every fan of the Expendables movie franchise. The former MMA fighter had an MMA career full of silverware. From being a three-time Heavyweight Champion, two-time Lightweight Champion, and interim Light Heavyweight Champion, Couture has made a seamless transition to the silver screen.
Whether it be action, dramas, or comedies, the former MMA fighter has made sure that he perfects the art to an extent that people might actually forget that he was the scariest fighter to face inside the Octagon. Apart from The Expendables, the former UFC champion has also played the lead protagonist in 2012’s ‘Hijacked.’
Georges St-Pierre
Truly one of the all-time greats when it comes to mixed martial arts. A three-time champion of the Welterweight division and the #1 spot holder for several years in the rankings, the MMA fighter has had a career that others could only dream of. However, despite reaching worldwide fame as the best among the best, Georges St-Pierre still wanted more. As a result, he soon started acting right after his retirement in 2013 as the man with the most wins when it comes to title fights. After all, he successfully retained his championship belt nine consecutive times.
While he has made appearances on the silver screen with projects such as ‘Kickboxer: Vengeance and Cartels,’ his main claim to silver screen fame was playing the role of the Algerian mercenary and pirate Georges Batroc in the mega-hit, ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier.’ This also allowed him to be a part of other Marvel projects as well, such as ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ and ‘What If…?’
Ronda Rousey
Often considered the greatest female UFC fighter of all time, Ronda Rousey is not new to switching professions. Apart from MMA, the former UFC bantamweight champion also tried her hand at being a WWE superstar and an actress. Taking advantage of her worldwide fame, she first appeared in the Expendables 3.
Michelle Rodriguez’s fight with Ronda Rousey in Furious 7 is still one of the best fight sequences I’ve ever seen. Can’t wait to see what she does in #FastX pic.twitter.com/AtxFQ13bDl

Sharing the screen alongside legends of the action world such as Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, and Jet Li helped her get the action movie bug. As a result, she soon appeared in other action blockbusters such as ‘Furious 7,’ ‘Mile 22,’ ‘Entourage,’ and ‘Charlie’s Angels.’ Seeing that she has started creating a niche as an action star, it would be interesting to see what role she picks up next.
Chuck Liddell
The former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion has been one of the OGs of the MMA world. Along with Randy Couture, ‘The Iceman’ is known for making MMA a household name when it comes to sports and entertainment. After achieving Hall of Fame status through an MMA record of 21–9, Chuck Liddell decided to capitalize on his fame by getting into the world of movies and shows. In his early ventures, Liddell played a tough guy in ‘How High’ or Cradle 2 the Grave’; however, his later roles in movies earned him much more cred since all he had to do was play himself in movies such as Kick-A** 2.

Quinton Jackson
A former UFC champion, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson is a legend of the mixed martial arts world with a professional record of 34 wins and 14 losses. Like Liddell, he too wanted to try his hand at acting; however, he couldn’t wait till his retirement to do so. As a result, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson switched between acting and MMA, making appearances in shows such as ‘King of Queens’ and ‘The Cleveland Show.’ His real breakthrough role came in the remake of ‘The A-Team,’ as he played B.A. Baracus in the 2010 film. Well, that’s the list. Is there any other MMA star we missed? Let us know in the comments.
