When asked about the possibility of facing Conor McGregor, Dariush replied that he didn’t see it happening. He believed that McGregor was at a point in his career where he wanted to fight bigger names and focus on historical fights. This could mean a rematch with Poirier or a trilogy bout with Nate Diaz.

“I think for him it doesn’t make sense, right? He would rather fight somebody that’s a bigger name. He would rather fight somebody who’s beat him like Dustin Poirier. I feel like he’s in that point in his career where he wants to do those like historical fights like him and Nate Diaz maybe or him and Dustin Poirier because he lost to Dustin Poirier.”

Dariush also suggested that McGregor may not be interested in pursuing the belt. According to Dariush, this is because UFC gold comes with a lot of pressure and expectations. “I don’t really think he wants to go for the belt because there’s a lot to that belt. There’s a lot of pressure to be a champion so I don’t really think he wants to deal with that”.
