Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier are two of the most popular fighters in UFC history. The fighters have fought each other three times, in what was one of the most epic trilogies in UFC history. Fans, fighters, and critics from all over the world have often shared their views on this epic rivalry. Recently, UFC lightweight fighter Beneil Dariush also talked about the latest fight between these two fighters.
McGregor and Poirier last faced each other at the main event of UFC 264. This was the third fight between the pair and Poirier won it via a TKO (doctor’s stoppage). Before this fight, various fighters and fans had chosen their favorite to win this fight. However, Dariush was really confused and was looking at this fight in a different manner.

During a recent interview, Dariush talked about how a victory for ‘Notorious’ would have benefited him. He said, “So I was actually really torn about the fight. Because I thought to myself, If Conor wins, he’ll probably run off to do some boxing or whatever, and that kind of leads me straight to the title.”
“I am the only one in the division in the top-3 or 5 whatever you want to call it, within an actual win streak. But if Dustin wins, he’s gonna go straight to the title. He looked good in the last fight; he didn’t look intimidated in the last fight. Then, coming into this fight, he didn’t feel the pressure, I guess.”

Dariush is currently riding high on a 7 fight win streak and therefore he believes that a victory for ‘Notorious’ would have helped him challenge for the title sooner.
What next for Beneil Dariush?
In his last fight, Dariush faced UFC veteran Tony Ferguson at the UFC 262 event. This was Dariush’s 26th professional MMA fight, and probably the most important one. Dariush performed admirably at that event and ended up winning the fight via unanimous decision.
Following that victory, Dariush leaped up to No.3 in the UFC rankings. Therefore, the fighter would look to win his next fight and challenge for the title soon. While there has been no official word of Dariush’s next fight, the fighter would look to face any top-ranked fighter in the lightweight rankings.
