In an interview with MMA Junkie, Dariush said, “You know there’s a situation with Charles right now. He’s not the champion. He wants to fight Conor. I think the UFC wants to set up Islam (Makhachev) and Charles. So it puts me kind of in limbo.”
The fighter further added, “So I’m just waiting to see what happens. You know, if Charles and Islam (Makhachev) does get set up, a guy like Dustin Poirier makes a lot of sense. I think I’d love to fight him. I know he was talking about fighting in August.”
He also said, “I mean, that’d be great. August, September whatever, we can go. We don’t have to go to Abu Dhabi. I can even go to Florida if they want. I don’t mind. So that’s one thing I had in mind.”

After his victory in the UFC on ESPN 38, Mateusz Gamrot called out Justin Gaethje. However, UFC President Dana White was of a different opinion. He revealed he would love to see Gamrot fight Beneil Dariush instead of ‘The Highlight.’ White said, “Yeah, I think what I love is, I love Gamrot-Dariush when (Dariush) comes back.”
Both Dariush and Gamrot are currently enjoying a winning streak in the UFC. While Dariush is on a 7-fight winning streak, Gamrot is on a 4-fight winning streak. A fight between these two talented fighters has the potential to be a great one.
