The UFC community recently came across some very disappointing news. The much-awaited co-main event between Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush was canceled as Oliveira withdrew from the bout due to an injury. It’s not the first time the fight between the two is getting canceled; it has happened before as well. Earlier, Dariush and ‘Do Bronx’ were all set to lock horns in October 2020. Now, the cancellation of their UFC 288 fight has caused great disappointment to Dariush, as he had been training hard for months for the bout.
The winner between the two was supposed to fight for the title shot against the current lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev. Moreover, things turned worse for the American fighter when the UFC President, Dana White, refused to give him the title shot directly. Nonetheless, at the moment, Dariush is focusing on the brighter side of his career. In a recent interview, the 33-year-old talked about how he shares a great relationship with White. He also detailed the incident where White discussed Donald Trump with Dariush.

Dariush was talking to The Schmo. He was asked about his current relationship with Dana White after the cancellation of his bout against Oliveira. As an answer to the question, Dariush said, “I heard Dana was in the other room and he had other meetings too and then I saw Dana afterwards, but we didn’t really talk about the fight with Dana… I was talking to him. We were talking about UFC 287 and I was like, ‘man I think that was your best show’.“
In the latter part of the conversation, the lightweight fighter added how White showed him things the promotion was planning with Trump. He added, “We were going back and forth about it and then he knows I’m a big fan of Trump so he’s like ‘Hey let me show you some stuff we’re doing, some stuff with Trump’ and I felt like almost like good cop, bad cop like you know had the bad cop first thing I had the good cop but man I get along well with Dana.”
