Former Bellator MMA welterweight champion Ben Askren is under intense training for his boxing clash against Jake Paul. But physical training doesn’t seem to be the only area of interest for the 36-year-old.
Both fighters have taken to social media platforms to land punches before their showdown. Askren, in particular, has been trying to get under the skin of the YouTuber.
In a recent war of words, Paul tweeted “11 days,” denoting the number of days left for their clash. To this, Askren gave a hilarious reply, saying, “I’d prefer a video of your cheer squad performing this”.

This ain’t the first time and won’t be the last time either that we see some banter before they face off. Some time ago, Askren took jibes at Paul and his brother about their relationship while they were growing up.
Since both brothers are YouTubers with good fan following, Askren trolled them by creating an Instagram video where he channeled his inner Rocky Balboa in an exceptional training montage. Askren posted, “When I got the call to fight Logan Paul’s little brother, I had to go into Rocky Style training!”
What does Askren bring to the fight?
In a word, Askren brings experience. Though he has never been UFC champion, he was a welterweight champion for Bellator MMA and ONE Championship.
Askren never lost a fight until he joined UFC at later stages of his career, when he got defeated by Jorge Masvidal and Demian Maia. Prior to that, he was undefeated for 19 straight matches over a decade.
While he wasn’t a great striker, his wrestling skills are among the best. In boxing, though, there is little wrestling could do to save him, but his experience of fighting with the best would help him enough.
As for Paul, he has two straight victories over fighters who are not as legitimate prizefighters as Askren. He is still honing his new trade in the world of combat sports.

Paul vs. Askren is all set for April 17 on Triller pay-per-view. Surely, it’s one of the wildest events of the year in combat sports, and Askren seems hell-bent on making things as difficult as possible for his opponent until the fight takes place — by using his trolling prowess.
