Ben Askren recently joined DC in a recent video on his channel. They discussed the outcome of refusing to fight in a match offered by the UFC president Dana White.
Both DC and ‘Funky’ talked about various topics, including the state of the UFC’s welterweight division. That led them to talk about Leon Edwards and his next opponent, Colby Covington. They discussed how ‘Rocky’ wasn’t interested in fighting the former interim champion. But Ben Askren shared his opinions on the matter.

‘Funky’ respects Leon Edwards’ opinion of not wanting to fight Colby Covington, since the latter hasn’t fought in over a year. However, Askren also mentions that the UFC president never forgets that someone refused to accept a fight that he offered. He said, “UFC fighters – they can push back against Dana [White]. But where it bites them in the a**, Dana will hold it against them.”
Askren warned Leon Edwards that rejecting Dana White’s suggestion for a fight will only benefit him in the short term. He added, “So they can win in the short term like, Leon can just keep saying ‘Nah, I’m not fighting him. Nope, I’m not fighting him. Give me someone else, give me someone else.’ It might happen, and then when Dana gets to get him back, he’s gonna get him back.”
Daniel Cormier presents the contraposition on Askren’s comments on the UFC president
DC commented on the fighters who do accept all the fights presented to him. He believes they end up in a better position after their MMA careers are over. He said, “On the other hand, the guys that kind of go, ‘You know what? Sure I’ll fight.’ They end up with commentary jobs like me and Michael Bisping and all those other guys, right? So it’s like a hand come and hand go situation.”

Moreover, things are already complicated in the welterweight division. UFC fans will have to wait for the official announcement of the next welterweight championship fight.
