Cris Cyborg is arguably the best female fighter that has ever graced a cage. Her accolades in combat sports are mind-boggling. She is a multiple-time world Jiu-Jitsu champion and has been a world champion in four major organizations. Fans would be hard to find a better CV than that of Cris Cyborg when it comes to combat sports.

She further cemented her legacy as being one of the best when she defended her Bellator featherweight belt. Cyborg beat the most seasoned campaigner in Bellator’s featherweight division, Arlene Blencowe.

In the post-fight press conference, Cyborg was asked if she cared who the greatest female fighter was. Cyborg maintained that she stays away from such discussions and expressed her desire to beat Amanda Nunes should the opportunity present itself.

She said, “You know, you never hear me saying anything about this. But if the people say I’m the greatest, I hear them. I continue to work hard every day. And if the opportunity to have a fight again. She knows she run away about the rematch. I’m going to continue working hard. If God gives me the fight again, I’m going to be ready. It’s going to be a different story.”

Cyborg won the UFC women’s featherweight title and defended it twice against the likes of Holly Holm and Yana Kunitskaya. Bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes then challenged Cyborg and stopped her inside the very first round.

This was Cris Cyborg’s first loss in 15 years as a professional MMA fighter. Being the fierce competitor she is, it’s obvious that she wants to beat ‘The Lioness‘ at some point. However, this looks unlikely as they’re both part of different promotions at the moment.

Against Blencowe, however, Cyborg proved that she has a lot more fight left in her. In the second round, she was able to secure a takedown against ‘Angerfist’. The Brazilian fighter landed some devastating shots from on top and could transition through positions. Eventually, she secured the back and choked out Blencowe for her first successful title defense at Bellator.

Do you think we get to see a second fight between Amanda Nunes and Cris Cyborg? Or will the Bellator featherweight champion meet her match at Scott Coker’s promotion itself?
