Joe Rogan loves a good appreciates good fights and fighters. And sometimes, the UFC commentator and former martial artist’s appreciation of fighters veers into homoeroticism. But the stand-up comedian is not insecure about his masculinity and has the ability to laugh it off.

Case in point was Rogan’s recent episode with one of the best comics in the world, Shane Gillis, when Rogan spoke about Michael Chandler‘s spectacular (and hard to watch) head-kick knockout of Tony Ferguson at UFC 274 last year. And Chandler, who is waiting for his fight against Conor McGregor to be announced, reacted to Rogan’s praise.

After a good first round for Tony Ferguson, Michael Chandler knocked out ‘El Cucuy’ with a brutal front kick to his chin. With this, Chandler became the first person in the UFC to knockout the former interim champion. And Rogan is an admirer of the horrific KO.

During the course of his episode with Gillis, the two comics started talking about the effects of head trauma that fighting gives fighters. Rogan brought up Chandler’s front-kick KO of Ferguson as a way to explain to Gillis the impact of a kick to the chin. The image is taken at the precise moment Chandler’s foot meets ‘Boogeyman’s chin and shows Ferguson’s face and chin getting discombobulated due to the kick.

“Look at Chandler’s f*cking quads. Imagine how much power is in that. Good Lord, good Lord! Look at his body; he’s just a ball of tense muscle, just exploding on your face,” Rogan said looking at the picture of the KO.

This prompted Gillis to burst out laughing, in which the podcast host joined him. “That sounded a lot more gay than I was trying to make it sound,” a beaming Rogan admitted. And Michael Chandler reacted to this moment on his Twitter account. “Wait for it…what did @joerogan say to @shanemgillis? #ufc296. Walk On. See you at the top!” the former Bellator champion wrote as he waits for the McGregor bout.

While ‘Iron’ said that there was no fixed date yet, the bout would likely take place early to mid next year. However, the fight had to be moved up to next year due to unknown reasons. But Chandler was heartened to see McGregor back in the gym, working hard for his comeback after two years’ inactivity. The former Bellator champion was hoping for a UFC 300 mega-card fixture, and believed it would be the perfect occasion for ‘Mac’s comeback.
