Despite retiring undefeated in 2020, Khabib Nurmagomedov is still a relevant topic in the MMA community. The Dagestani fighter is happily enjoying a coaching career while also promoting his own Eagle FC. However, Nurmagomedov recently had a callout for a confrontation. Interestingly, it was not from the usual suspects, Conor McGregor or Tony Ferguson.

Former UFC interim-title challenger and Eagle FC star Kevin Lee called out ‘The Eagle’ in a since-deleted tweet. Apparently, things may not be smooth between the former UFC lightweights and Lee demanded a talk about it.

The UFC released Lee following a string of losses in 2021. Shortly after, he signed for Eagle FC and faced Diego Sanchez in his debut. In an interview that followed his tweet, the ‘Motown Phenom’ explained his discontent after just one fight under the promotion.

The 30-year-old revealed in the interview that he was currently changing his management team. Presently, Lee is exclusively signed to Eagle FC on a 4-year deal, but, he said “it’s getting to the point where I might step outside of it.” Lee also explained his deleted tweet aimed at the UFC Hall of Famer, Nurmagomedov.

“Me and Khabib need to talk,” he said, “We need to really sit down as men and talk.” Lee also said that the former champion may have a grudge against him. “He maybe holds a grudge or he’s got something going on against me.”

Lee also said that Nurmagomedov and his team are still celebrating Islam Makhachev’s title win in October and preparing for the upcoming bout against Alexander Volkanovski. While he does not have a problem with any of it, Lee said, ” All that good sh*t so I’m not not a team player, you know what I’m saying? So, yeah. We’ll need to have a talk, but it’ll come in due time.”

Kevin Lee raising his issue with Nurmagomedov is only one of two reasons he made the news lately. Besides the Eagle FC situation, Lee called out UFC welterweight Khamzat Chimaev and faced ridicule from the MMA community.

Kevin Lee’s Khamzat Chimaev callout

Khamzat Chimaev recently shared his frustrations about not getting an opponent for his next bout. However, the response to his woes came from outside the UFC. Kevin Lee accepted his challenge via a tweet where he claimed ‘Borz’ would never out-wrestle him. Lee also added that he had never lost the first round in his fights.

Lee tagged his former promotion and made it clear he was not afraid of the welterweight hitman. However, fans mostly dismissed his callout, saying the Chechen would be too much for him.

While a fight between the pair is far from materializing, Lee’s callout of Chimaev may have larger implications. During the interview, he also hinted at frustration over Eagle FC not returning to the US for shows.
