Before Fight Against Jake Paul, Nate Diaz Set to Appear in Court over New Orleans Fight Incident Against Logan Paul Look-Alike

The former UFC fighter, Nate Diaz, is facing severe legal charges. Diaz, who is popular among the MMA community for his carefree attitude, recently got into a street fight against the famous TikToker Rodney Petersen. At first, many believed that Diaz choked Logan Paul on the streets of New Orleans because of the uncanny similarity of the TikToker with the WWE star. In the viral video, Diaz choked out Peterson until he fell unconscious on the ground.

The video caught the attention of the netizens, and soon afterward, a warrant was issued for the Californian fighter’s arrest. As per the representatives of Diaz, he was trying to save himself from an aggressive attack from Peterson.

What would happen to Nate Diaz?

As reported by The MAC Life, Diaz’s hearing in court is on June 27th at 3 p.m. local time. According to Louisiana law, Diaz might receive a sentence of 8 years in prison for his crime. Along with the prison sentence, they might even fine Diaz $2,000! The former UFC fighter was training hard for one of the biggest boxing matches of the year between him and Jake Paul. The organizers scheduled the match for August 5, 2023, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. While talking with the media, Diaz’s representative, Zach Rosenfield, said, “Nate’s attorney looks forward to presenting all of the facts about this incident to the District Attorney, which clearly demonstrate that a trained fighter named Rodney Petersen aggressively pursued Nate with the intention of engaging him, and once doing so, Nate acted entirely in self-defense.“ 

Surprisingly, it was not the only fight Nate got into on the same night. While watching the match in New Orleans, Diaz, without much provocation, got up from his seat and threw a water bottle at the TV star, Chase Demoor. Demoor lost his temper after Diaz’s action. He got up from his seat and came forward to fight Diaz. This disturbed the entire audience.

Jorge Masvidal lends a helping hand

Recently, during an interview with MMA Junkie’s Mike Bohn, the retired BMF Champion of the UFC, Jorge Masvidal, lent a helping hand to Diaz. Masvidal, who himself got into legal complications after attacking Colby Covington in Miami, suggested the best lawyer in the country for Diaz. He said, “I got a top lawyer in the country that wants to represent you. His name is Brad Cohen. Hope you people get in touch with him. He wants to take care of you…”

The two are former rivals who locked horns against each other at UFC 244. The BMF champion further said that he does not talk to Diaz because of their rivalry and asked the interviewer to pass on the message. In the interview, Masvidal said that the lawyer could help him get out of the legal complications. Being rivals, Masvidal trying to help Diaz was quite surprising.
