Conor McGregor is inarguably the brightest star in the sky of MMA. The UFC’s former two-weight division champion has displayed stupendous striking power inside the cage. But McGregor wasn’t always the star we know today. The Irishman had to face rejections before finally striking a deal with the UFC. He has always been very vocal about his initial struggles and dedication to the sport.
Conor McGregor’s stardom came at the cost of dedication
The stardom that ‘The Notorious’ enjoys came at the price of his dedication and hard work. He always had a dream of becoming the best. As he grew up, he chose the field that attracted him the most: MMA. He had to take up the job of a plumber in order to support his family. But, after making up his mind that he was going to give his everything to become the best in MMA, McGregor gave up his job.
He joined the Straight Blast Gym in Ireland and start pouring his blood and sweat into his training. In a 2008 interview, when Conor McGregor wasn’t the icon we know today, he went on to describe his dream of becoming the no.1 in MMA.
McGregor said how “It’s either all or nothing in this game.” He described that without “training twice a day” or without proper dedication, it’s impossible to make a mark in this sport. He also talked about how he had “enough talent, enough dedication, and enough love for the sport” to fulfill his aspiration of becoming the best in this game.

The reporter asked McGregor, “And what is your dream?”
The then ‘without-beard’ McGregor replied, “My dream is to be the World Lightweight champion in the UFC”. As of now, he has lived his dream, all due to his dedication and desire to become the best.
McGregor had also been through a lot of financial trouble in his life. He definitely didn’t want any more of it as he mentioned that he wants to make “more money” which he “doesn’t know what to do with and have a great life” for his “kids, grandkids, and everyone” in his “family”.
Summing up everything, McGregor ended, “My dream is to be no.1 pretty much, my goal is to be no.1 in MMA”.
