Is the UFC trying to rewrite history by omitting Ngannou's legendary knockout from their compilation?

Dana White detests Francis Ngannou. After all, the former UFC heavyweight champion left the UFC early last year, becoming the first reigning UFC champ to do so. Not to mention ‘The Predator’ had been vocal in criticizing the promotion about the thing White seems most touchy about- fighter pay. To make things even worse, the Cameroonian joined the UFC’s biggest competitor- the PFL a few months after leaving the UFC. And it seems the UFC is trying to erase Ngannou from history as a recently uploaded compilation on the promotion’s YouTube channel indicates.

The UFC posted a video titled ‘Top 100 UFC Apex Knockouts’ on its channel, which notably did not feature Ngannou’s memorable UFC 260 leg-twisting knockout of Stipe Miocic at the Apex in Las Vegas, which is among the most memorable in the sport’s history. Certainly worthy of being in the top 100, most would agree. But not the UFC.

The UFC doesn’t even think that spectacular knockout is among the top 100 knockouts at the Apex, which is clearly a deliberate choice and done solely to spite the current PFL heavyweight champion. It once again confirms many fans’ opinion of Dana White being incredibly thin-skinned and having a tenuous connection to the truth.

To get a bit more serious for a moment, this tactic of trying to erase people from MMA history is nothing new. The infamous case of Randy Couture’s exit lifetime ban from every UFC arena is well-documented. It is clear why Dana White and the UFC still do not like Ngannou, especially after their feud was recently renewed by Dana White.

Francis Ngannou brings receipts after Dana White accuses him of ducking Jon Jones

Francis Ngannou and Dana White’s feud heated up yet again recently. After all, the UFC CEO claimed at a press conference that the highly anticipated Jon Jones vs. Francis Ngannou fight didn’t come to fruition because of ‘The Predator.’ Ngannou, of course, was the reigning heavyweight champ when Jones was bulking up to move up the UFC’s heaviest division.

Have an interesting take?

At that time, when Ngannou was in the UFC, White had essentially said that Jones was the one who was ducking Ngannou, not the other way around, as he says now. The French-Cameroonian would point this out by quote tweeting a post from Jake Paul. ‘The Problem Child’ (who has an ongoing feud with White himself), would dig up a video where White is holding Jones responsible for not wanting to fight Ngannou and post it on social media for Ngannou and the fans’ benefit.

Dana White, of course, has done more than any other individual to make the sport of MMA as popular as it is today. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t without fault. Contradicting his previously held and well-documented views, the head honcho has decided to move in a totally different direction. What do you think about the UFC omitting Francis Ngannou from its top 100 knockouts at the Apex compilation?
