Sometimes, the aftermath of a match gains more talk rather than the fight itself. Be it a victory or defeat, post-fight brawls are thought to be a way for the fighter’s teams to vent out their stress and frustration. Such was the case in the post-fight brawl at UFC 229 that happened between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The bout between ‘The Eagle’ and ‘The Notorious’ ended with the latter tapping out. During the post-fight, all hell broke out and chaos took over. Conor ‘The Notorious’ McGregor stood up and tried to regain his honor. He narrated the entire story to Tony Robbins in an interview.
In the interview, Tony Robbins asked Conor McGregor about the fight that broke out after his last bout. McGregor told the story. He explained how Khabib Nurmagomedov jumped off the fence after his win and went into the crowd to make some noise. McGregor called Nurmagomedov’s team ‘rats’ as they ‘scurried’ away from the crowd. ‘The Notorious’ acknowledged that ‘The Eagle’ won the bout and paid his respect.

As Nurmagomedov jumped off the cage and things began to go out of hand, McGregor’s excitement rushed back in. Soon, McGregor got off the ground and got ready. “I said okay, now I’m back in the mix”, said McGregor. He then elaborated on how he jumped on top of the cage and was followed by Nurmagomedov’s brothers climbing in to join the fight.
McGregor called it a ‘Christmas present’. They fought atop the cage but the security broke the fight and then they were back in the cage. ‘Mystic Mac’ also claimed that he was always aware of his surroundings as he was recalling the event.
McGregor stood up and helped the audience visualize how he backed up to the cage during the chaos. He said it was fascinating to watch that back as two of Nurmagomedov’s teammates jumped in behind McGregor.

“He turned back and saw me. But I’d already saw him. So as he turned back – ‘boom’. I smacked him and he wobbled”, McGregor recalled. He continued to explain the final blow of that night. “Then the final one was the original brother who was on top of the cage. He broke free from the security. … He threw a right hand. As he threw the right hand, I threw a left hand”, he told Robbins about the final punch of that event. “And that’s it. I win”, he ended the story with a ‘victory’.

A fan of ‘The Notorious’ tweeted a video saying, “Conor McGregor’s storytelling is so good.” The video showed the aftermath of McGregor’s last battle against Khabib Nurmagomedov. Audio from McGregor’s interview with Tony Robbins was overlapped as he narrated the story.

Unquestionably, fans were divided into two factions. While some of the fans stood up for ‘The Notorious’, others stood beside ‘The Eagle’.
