Chael Sonnen has fashioned himself as the bad guy of the UFC over the years. He has since retained this reputation, even after his retirement. The former fighter is still very much attached to MMA and the UFC and he’s not the type to hold anything back.

Recently, Jorge Masvidal appeared for an interview with The MMA Hour. Here’s Masvidal called Sonnen a bunch of terrible things and the UFC veteran did not take that lightly. Soon, Sonnen would flood his X handle with hateful tweets towards Masvidal calling him all sorts of things. Here are some of them and how fans reacted to the whole drama.

Chael Sonnen loses it over Masvidal’s comments

So what exactly set Sonnen off? Masvidal sided with Ariel Helwani amidst beef between Sonnen and the journalist. In doing so, Masvidal called Sonnen “the dirtiest fighter” and “a b*tch”. And that may have struck a nerve with the UFC veteran who didn’t keep his words at a safe distance later on.

In a series of X posts, Sonnen went off on Masvidal soon after the interview was released. In the interview, Masvidal also accused Sonnen of always being on PEDs during his career. So when Sonnen could bite, he really did. Here are just some of his tweets.

In another post, he reminded Masvidal of the time he faced some jail time after assaulting Sonnen’s friend, Colby Covington outside a restaurant in Miami.

Finally, in another post, he implies that Masvidal was being two-faced. So Sonnen isn’t having any of Masvidal’s online shots. It has much to do with the way Masvidal assaulted Covington a few years back. And now, he’s speaking out against Sonnen. Clearly, the fire has not been quenched and the fans have joined in.

Fans are no strangers to Sonnen and his sick burns. Whether it’s online or offline, Sonnen has always been a masterclass in trash-talking. So of course reactions poured in when Sonnen dragged Masvidal’s name through the mud.
