“Myself and Khamzat is going to be a big event no matter where it is [or] where it is – that’s going to be a big one.” Ever since Khamzat Chimaev submitted Robert Whittaker and broke his mandible, Dricus Du Plessis has set his eyes on him and began hyping up the matchup between him and ‘Borz’. And after DDP secured a second win over Sean Strickland seemed to have ensured that it was the next fight for the UFC to make. But even such a straightforward matchup had its problems. 

Following his big win at UFC 312, DDP took up the microphone and called out Alex Pereira. While the light heavyweight champion wasn’t able to understand it right away, he agreed to fight with one condition. The fight has to go down in the light heavyweight division. And Du Plessis agreed. After all, he does wish to move up and try to become a double champion. However, that left ‘Borz’ hanging by a short string. He took to X and dissed the matchup, claiming that it was the “Biggest bull—-.” But he hasn’t given up hope to take on the fight against DDP.

On the eve of 16 February 2025, the Chechen Wolf took to X and shared a picture of himself wearing a slick smile. But in the caption, he decided to take a subtle shot at the middleweight champion. He wrote, “Good morning [Dricus Du Plessis].” Well, that’s because it was Monday morning for Chimaev. It also meant that the #3 middleweight contender was already preparing to take on ‘Stillknocks’ in the Octagon. 

But what did the fighting community have to say about it? Well, as soon as Khamzat Chimaev dropped the tweet, the fight fans took over the comments section and revealed their thoughts. People even took the conversation to Reddit. Let’s see what they had to say. 

Fans respond to Khamzat Chimaev’s good morning wish for Dricus Du Plessis

On Reddit, fight fans seemed to know that Chimaev vs. Dricus Du Plessis would be an absolute war. And the reason was Chimaev’s bald look. One of the users on Reddit wrote, “he went back to bald, killa mode.” Meanwhile, another fan seemed to believe that it really didn’t matter. The comment read, “They both lead to rolling around on the floor sweaty and shirtless until the other one taps out…so doesn’t really matter.” Nevertheless, the excitement around the bout was palpable. One of the comments read, “Really hope that fight is next.”

The fans had a similar emotion coming to X. One of the fans wrote, “Fight going to be good, not sure who’d win tbh 50/50 rn.” Another fan commented, “Pumped for this one…Khamzat for the W..” Looking at Chimaev as the next middleweight champion seemed like the new trend. But there were many other fight fans who stood up for Du Plessis’ win. One of those fans commented, “Can’t wait for @dricusduplessis to shut you up!”

However, Chimaev’s history of poor health and multiple pullouts from his bouts had the fighting community concerned. One of the fans decided to point out his troubles with sickness and missing weight. The comment read, “You gonna be able to make it to the fight without getting sick or missing weight?” Another fan wrote, “Take your vitamins we don’t need you catching another cold.” Some even questioned if the sweat on Chimaev’s face was actually because of exercise. One fan asked, “Fever sweats or are you working out?” But we have to be honest. Chimaev vs. Du Plessis has an exciting take to it.
