A UFC insider might have spoiled Dana White‘s plans for International Fight Week. But what plans? Well, the highly anticipated heavyweight fight between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall may not take place during International Fight Week after all—and Michael Bisping has just revealed a shocking explanation. The UFC great recently gave his thoughts on why fans shouldn’t hold their breath for this dream fight in June, and it’s not the update fight fans were hoping for. If Bisping’s hunch is right, the UFC’s plans for Jones vs. Aspinall might be getting shelved, at least for now.

So what’s the holdup? According to Bisping, the UFC’s stacked International Fight Week lineup is the smoking gun. With Islam Makhachev and Khamzat Chimaev almost confirmed as co-headliners, Jones vs. Aspinall would make for a rare—and certainly unrealistic—three-title-fight show. “They’ve done it before, but that’s three main events in one night,” Bisping said, citing previous mega-cards, including his own historic fight with Georges St-Pierre. The conclusion is clear: the UFC isn’t going to waste three PPV-worthy matches on one show when they can spread them out.

He said, “They have done that, and they’ve done that multiple times. But that would be three blockbuster fights that could headline pay-per-views in their own separate rights. So, yeah, it’s just kind of an interesting one. I don’t think—to summarize this and wrap it all up in a second.” This is consistent with the annoying pattern we’ve seen for months. ‘Bones’ initially avoided the bout to chase a now-cancelled “super fight” with Alex Pereira, while the Briton has been left seething with only one interim championship defense under his belt. Then the undisputed champion asked for a massive sum and six months to prepare.

With the ongoing drama surrounding the undisputed title, the true tragedy isn’t just the delay; it’s the wasted opportunity. Jon Jones’ crafty veteran savvy technique vs. Tom Aspinall’s explosive power is a dream matchup. In terms of legacy, Jon Jones has the opportunity to solidify his GOAT reputation against the division’s hungriest opponent. And what about the fans? This bout might define the heavyweight era. But if Michael Bisping’s assessment of the situation is right, we could be waiting much longer than expected—and Aspinall’s patience is running thin by the day. In fact, he took a jibe at the reigning champion once again.

Tom Aspinall takes yet another jibe at Jon Jones

The waiting game continues, but Tom Aspinall will not allow the silence to go unanswered. While Dana White keeps his lips zipped up and Jon Jones keeps fans guessing with his mysterious social media antics, the interim heavyweight champion is making his presence known. The Instagram clip of him practicing his punches and combos on a heavy bag with the caption “Blink and you’re in danger👊🦆” wasn’t just another exercise video. It was a direct challenge, adding another dimension to Aspinall’s psychological warfare campaign against ‘Bones.’ What’s with the duck emoji? A not-so-subtle reference to his claim that Jon Jones is ‘ducking’ him.

Behind the scenes, things may finally be going somewhere, unlike what Michael Bisping claimed on his YouTube channel. Even though no fight announcement has been made, Aspinall’s recent meeting with UFC executive Hunter Campbell in London implies some good progress. “I understand my position now,” Aspinall teased following the meeting, suggesting “big news” on the way. It’s unclear whether Jones is being forced to the table or Aspinall is being guided toward another opponent.

But one thing is certain: the Brit isn’t sitting around. He’s honing his skills, pestering the heavyweight champion at every turn, and making it impossible for Dana White to ignore the demand for this fight. Jones, for his part, has usually been cryptic. But the pressure is increasing. Tom Aspinall’s latest jab, along with his confidence that “exciting times” are ahead, puts the ball squarely in Jones’ court. Is the heavyweight GOAT finally ready to defend his reign, or will Aspinall’s taunts dictate the narrative? Let us know in the comments.

What’s your perspective on:

Will Jon Jones finally face Aspinall, or is he ducking the fight to protect his legacy?
