Gilbert Burns has some old grudges to settle with Conor McGregor, even with past arguments resolved. Earlier this year, Burns and ‘The Notorious‘ feuded over McGregor allegedly kicking out Loik Radzhabov from the TUF event in Las Vegas. The allegations were short-lived but fans suspect there’s still bad blood. Now, Gilbert Burns has teased the Irishman as a potential loser if he ever went up against Justin Gaethje.

McGregor is a foul-mouthed fighter, whether it’s on a mic or on X. After Gaethje stole the BMF title from Dustin Poirier, ‘The Notorious’ had to call him out. This is probably what sent sparks flying between the two fighters. So far, a fight between the two is only a dream, but if it happens, who takes the title away? Burns made his thoughts crystal clear.

Several fans harbor suspicions that the Brazilian fighter remains unconvinced that McGregor played no part in his teammate Radzhabov’s removal. The issue was pushed aside when McGregor deleted the tweet he used in his defense, but Burns reaffirmed his statement. Now, taking advantage of the McGregor vs. Gaethje rivalry, the 37-year-old has chosen to get involved.

It all started when McGregor decided to fire shots at the newly victorious BMF champion. ‘The Highlight‘ slammed a kick right in Poirier’s head and knocked him out cold on the mat to clinch the victory. This clearly did not sit well with the Irishman, who in the since-deleted tweets said:

“Justin, I’ll slap you around.” He later followed the tweet up with a cockier statement, “I’m the real bmf, he can fight for pennies if he wants but I want spirits, I call the shots, I’m in it to launch shots, f—k chandler, you want it call for it.”

Here, McGregor is talking about Michael Chandler, the Bellator phenom who he’s supposed to fight in December this year. The Dublin-based warrior seems more interested in a fight with Gaethje for the title instead. The champ didn’t put any respect on McGregor’s name either when he was asked about his comments. “I fight MMA. I like to fight big fights, I like exciting things, so it sounds pretty exciting to me. I’m not gonna fight someone on steroids. I’ve never taken steroids in my life,” Gaethje told press in a post-fight conference, “and I never will. Well, maybe when I retire, I might,” he continued. “But I’ve never taken steroids, and I don’t want to fight someone who is cheating. And I probably shouldn’t even say that if I want the McGregor fight, but it’s the truth.”

Gaethje didn’t give a lot of attention to him at the time. The champion had all the success he needed for the moment, and McGregor’s deleted comments weren’t enough to shake him.

Burns earlier feud settlement wasn’t convincing

Reports of McGregor removing players from the TUF went pretty viral before the Las Vegas event went down. Allegedly, he wanted to put more of his fighters on the cards so they could get a chance instead. One of the kicked names was 32-year-old Radzhabov.

Conor then defended himself in a tweet that he would go on to delete. In the tweet, he said: “not true. I only know 1 guy on this show and he put himself forward for it. And he is now, after today, set to fight the no.1 seed! I didn’t ask nor request anything! And I certainly didn’t have people removed. I’m just tryna get back in the mix myself so f**k off.”

“Burns would later go on to say that he didn’t know exactly what happened between the contestants who were removed and McGregor, but he moved some of his own fighters in. He was just upset that his teammate happened to be one of the kicked fighters. Burns still wants ‘The Notorious’ to lose and lose badly, however, the BMF title isn’t on the line and might not be any time soon. But when it does go up, will McGregor fire shots with his fists or with his tweets?
