Joe Rogan has always been open about his hatred for biased journalism. He has often spoken about or made fun of major news networks for not showing what he calls the ‘real facts.’ So when Elon Musk recently hinted at buying MSNBC, Joe Rogan entered the conversation, humorously suggesting that he will take over Rachel Maddow’s role on MSNBC. He tweeted, “If you acquire MSNBC, I want Rachel Maddow’s job. I’ll wear the same clothes, and spectacles, and utter the same falsehoods.”

Now, he has taken his hatred towards them to a new extent by going on a tirade against them on a recent edition of his Joe Rogan Experience, a clip of which is going viral on the internet. The JRE host claimed that Elon Musk’s $44 billion-worth Twitter is now the new source of journalism now that major news networks have truly lost their credibility after being biased toward a particular political party, either on the left or the right.

He said that there is this resistance right now to the idea of X being the new source of news for the world; it is actually the truth. And while journalists and other people claim that social media journalism is not real and authentic, they only have themselves to blame. Rogan stated, “You guys f***** us too many times. And we don’t believe you anymore.” He further added that X is now filling that gap by making the community share and authenticate the facts and that it is more reliable than current news networks and newspapers.

“And so the only way for us to find out what’s real and what’s not real is if someone posts it online and then everybody looks at it and then you get the community notes. And that’s way better than the New York Times telling me that the Fruit Loops in Canada are exactly the same as the Fruit Loops in America. Except for a bunch of s*** that’s banned, and that’s the whole point of the whole f***** thing.”

Well, it surely looks like Joe Rogan has lost all his trust in traditional media. But Elon Musk’s X, which he claimed he bought to save freedom of speech, is truly living up to its main motive as per the JRE host. However, it is also worth noting that the internet is also a major source of fake news being spread around. Something that Joe Rogan is very familiar with.

In May 2022, Joe Rogan faced public scrutiny for an episode of his Joe Rogan Experience podcast. In the show, the former Fear Factor host discussed a piece of news he read on the internet, which stated that Australia was attempting to establish legislation prohibiting people from producing their own food. Falling for the information that he got, the UFC announcer went on to ridicule the Australians for their alleged law.

However, when he and his guest attempted to learn more about the alleged law information, they met with no search results that claimed it to be true. Rogan further panicked and pulled up his phone to retrieve the article he read. However, as luck would have it, the UFC commentator discovered that it was nothing but fake news, leading several users to criticize the UFC commentator for believing it without fact-checking.

So it looks like even internet news is not that reliable until one takes the responsibility of fact-checking it before spreading it further. But what do you think? Do you also believe that Elon Musk’s X is doing a better job of spreading real news compared to traditional media? Let us know in the comments.
