Formula 1 is known for drawing out some of the most well-known people to attend their events and backstage affairs. In a similar fashion, the United States Grand Prix that took place in Austin, Texas, saw UFC commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan become a part of their grand event. Rogan, who calls Texas his home, made a special appearance in the garage of Lando Norris’ team, McLaren.
In a post shared on X by McLaren, a smiling Joe Rogan could be seen enjoying his time inside the F1 garage of the team. He could be seen sitting beside one of the MCL38s. His wife, Jessica Ditzel, was also a part of the visit, and the duo seemed to have enjoyed their time. However, it seems like McLaren fans aren’t too happy with having another ‘problematic’ guest in their team garage.

Back in May, the team welcomed Donald Trump around the pit wall. During a break in his trial in New York, Donald Trump made a controversial appearance at the Miami Grand Prix. He was cheering on crowds and posing with high-profile figures in the racing world. He was also in the photographs that McLaren took in his garage. There he chatted with the CEO of the firm, Zak Brown, while some spectators chanted at him.
The appearance of the former US president sparked some debate about why Formula 1 and the Woking team gave him an international media platform. However, the team later clarified that his decision had nothing to do with politics. In a statement issued by the British team, they claimed that they are an ‘apolitical organization.’ They further added that they just accepted the invitation.
Donald Trump’s visit to McLaren coincided with the team’s first victory since the 2021 Italian Grand Prix. There Lando Norris climbed to the top of the podium for the first time. The Briton later said that Trump congratulated him on his achievement and called it a ‘lucky charm’. However, we aren’t sure if Joe Rogan can prove to have such luck that a race win would help stop the McLaren fans who are speaking out against his appearance, especially when they are bombarding Twitter with their thoughts.

Fans rally against Joe Rogan’s visit
What’s your perspective on:
Are McLaren's guest choices alienating their fanbase with 'problematic' personalities?
Have an interesting take?
Taking to Twitter, several fans voiced their opinions against having the UFC commentator as a part of their team. The fact that the F1 team earlier invited Donald Trump and now had Joe Rogan as a guest made many believe that McLaren is looking out for problematic personalities who are known for their controversial statements. As several users wrote, “to the mclaren guest list team, please avoid inviting problematic people. thank you 🙏🏼“, “do you just not have normal guests that aren’t exceptionally known for being problematic” and, “whoever is managing ‘guests’ in US needs to get a new job. cant wait to see what abomination we’ll get next time.🫶”
While the feeling of disappointment was still expected from some fans, only a few could’ve thought of people actually getting disgusted by the decision. But that is exactly what happened when some fans saw the pictures and couldn’t help themselves from asking McLaren to remove Joe Rogan from their garage. As a few tweeted, “brother eughhh get that guy outta there,” and “absolutely disgusting.”

However, not everyone was displeased with the visit. Some JRE fans quickly expressed their excitement at seeing Rogan enjoy the visit. In fact, fans even wanted him to get behind the wheel and give the F1 car a spin, as that would truly be a sight to behold. As a fan wrote “Put him on the wheel,” however, another fan believed that putting him on the wheel would surely be a Herculean task, seeing the amazing build and fitness of the UFC commentator. As a fan expressed, “Sorry mate…no way you fit’n in a F1 car.🤣” Well, it surely looks like some fans enjoyed the visit while many were purely disappointed.
