Joe Rogan is a very vocal individual, which is evident through the discussions he has on his multimillion-worth podcast. However, there was one time when Rogan was facing backlash for some of the things he’d said. But the former interim welterweight champion Colby Covington was there to extend his support to the longtime UFC commentator.

The UFC color commentator and famed podcast host faced a lot of backlash in 2022. Certain aspects and moments from some of the episodes of the ‘Joe Rogan Experience’ came under scrutiny. This led to Rogan almost led to him getting ‘canceled’. But Colby Covington came to his aid and expressed how much he valued the 56-year-old as a part of the UFC family.

Colby Covington defended Joe Rogan from “cancel culture”

Joe Rogan faced backlash in early 2022 due to a Covid-19-related situation. He made some bold claims about the vaccines. This led to people accusing the podcast host of spreading false information, given how influential he is. As a result, he pulled out of UFC 271, only to be replaced by Hall of Famer Michael Bisping on commentary. But Rogan made his return the following pay-per-view and received a warm welcome from Colby Covington.

The longtime commentator was on hosting duty for the face-off between the UFC 272 headliners – Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal. After finishing up with ‘Gamebred’, Joe Rogan went over to ‘Chaos’ to talk about the upcoming fight. However, Covington stopped him there to welcome him back to the UFC, while also dissing ‘cancel culture’. “It’s so great to have you back, Joe Rogan. We love you at the UFC. We miss you. F*** cancel culture,” the former interim champion said. Meanwhile, the Covid-19 situation wasn’t the only trouble Rogan went through. There was another instance of a significant backlash against the JRE host.

Rogan was caught saying racial slurs

Joe Rogan would receive a lot more backlash from the people after he was caught using a racial slur multiple times on his podcast. He was subject to a lot of heat from the netizens. This even led to Spotify removing a total of 70 episodes of Rogan’s podcast from their platform. They removed any and all episodes that involved racially sensitive language.

However, Joe Rogan would have the support of many people from the MMA community and even former Congresswoman, Tulsi Gabbard. He remains one of the biggest voices of one of the biggest podcasts in the world. As far as Colby Covington goes, he’s hunting for the welterweight title.

Colby Covington will have a tough challenge at UFC 296 against Leon Edwards. The British fighter is on a roll with a double-figure undefeated streak. Nevertheless, Covington is confident about his chances this weekend. He even claimed that former US president Donald Trump would be there to put the championship belt around his waist when he wins the fight. We will have to wait and see how things pan out at UFC 296.
