Sean Strickland got into a scuffle at UFC 296, and now clips of it happening are surfacing. And guess who decided to chime in on the party? None other than former middleweight champ Israel Adesanya. ‘Izzy’ has been out of action ever since his loss to ‘Tarzan’, but that doesn’t mean he can’t have a good laugh at his expense.

Strickland and Adesanya had a pretty heated rivalry. Now, Strickland is the rightful champ who’s ready to defend his title against Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 297. However, it looked like he got a little too impatient and wanted to fight off Du Plessis right away. Here’s how Adesanya reacted to the incident.

Israel Adesanya has always been an entertaining personality, and the same could be said for Sean Strickland. While one is more unfiltered in his nature, the other, well, the other is the ‘Style Bender’. Adesanya recently took to his Instagram stories to let everyone know how funny he found the whole situation around Strickland.

He and another fighter, Craig Jones, laughed it up as Jones talked about the whole situation. Apparently, Strickland asked Gilbert Burns and his family to move out of the way before trying to assault Dricus Du Plessis in the crowd.

“Everyone stepped in. I was like let this ride please haha.” Jones said. “Strickland asked Gilbert to move his wife and kids first.” And Adesanya confessed that he’s just here for the laughs of it all. “lol, I’m just enjoying the sh*t show!!! Least he didn’t call Dricus a N*gga.”

Perhaps there are still open wounds from the time Adesanya fought Strickland in what many consider a major upset in the UFC’s recent history. Ever since his win, Strickland and his remarks have been even more unhinged. Will all the attention result in a landslide victory? Is that the goal?

The heightening trend of trying to break a fighter mentally

Perhaps it was Chael Sonnen who really started breaking his opponents mentally with his trash talk. Or perhaps it was Conor McGregor; in fact, it could have been the boxing legend Muhammad Ali himself back in his time. The point is, it’s nothing new to try to get under your opponent’s skin. However, is it slowly crossing boundaries that it shouldn’t with the UFC?

Sean Strickland has been rather vocal in his insults toward Du Plessis, accusing him of having unprofessional relationships with his coach. Meanwhile, Colby Covington gained a lot of negative attention for taking a low blow with a comment on Leon Edwards’ late father. While Covington lost, Strickland is yet to fight. It didn’t work for the former; will it work for the latter? We’ll find out next year at UFC 298.
