Francis Ngannou is yet to return to fighting inside an MMA cage since defeating Ciryl Gane at UFC 270. It has been over a year and now he has finally received a callout from a former UFC champion, Fabricio Werdum, who tweeted out about his wish to fight ‘The Predator’ in his home country of Brazil.

Fabricio Werdum is one of the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighters ever in the sport of MMA. He is a former interim and undisputed UFC heavyweight champion. ‘Vai Cavalo’ is now 45 years old and doesn’t seem like he’s planning to stop fighting anytime soon.

‘Vai Cavalo’ has issued a challenge to ‘The Predator’ for a showdown inside the PFL’s smart cage. He took to Twitter to mention how he proved his mettle against MMA legends Fedor Emelianenko and Cain Velasquez, and that he isn’t afraid to fight the Cameroonian-French fighter. Werdum wrote, “Hi [Francis Ngannou] I shock the world when I beat Fedor also when I beat Cain And I become undisputed UFC heavyweight champion…”

Fabricio Werdum claims that Francis Ngannou has some weak spots in his fighting style and wants to find out who’s the better fight in the PFL. “… you have a lot of hole in your game let’s go [PFL], [Donn Davis], [Pete Murray]. Only one way to find out PFL smart cage,” said the Brazilian ace.

Werdum wants to fight in a stadium in Brazil

Fabricio Werdum appeared in a PFL conference called the ‘WebSummit’ and mentioned that he wants to fight Ngannou in Brazil. Moreover, he suggested that they fight his hometown of Porto Alegre. UFC legend Chael Sonnen also confirmed this news in a tweet he shared recently, claiming that Werdum wants to fight in a stadium. He wrote, “Brazilian media just reported Werdum and Francis is being booked in a stadium later in the year.” Sonnen added, “The stadium is within the city limits of where Fabrizio was born.”

‘Vai Cavalo’ has fought only once under the PFL banner, which was a no-contest. Since there are reports that Francis Ngannou is inching closer to signing with the PFL, it is highly possible that both former UFC fighters would lock horns in that promotion.

Werdum is planning to fight Ngannou by the end of 2023, around November or December. Ngannou might consider taking the fight since he has been inactive for more than a year now.
