Nobody expected Israel Adesanya to lose to Sean Strickland at UFC 293. Moreover, he may not get a rematch as Dana White recently backtracked on his statement about setting up that fight immediately. Regardless of that, Adesanya, who’s been criticized for his performance in Sydney, sent a message to his doubters on social media.

There is no doubt that Sean Strickland pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the history of the UFC. He nullified almost any strike that Israel Adesanya threw at him. Meanwhile, during the post-fight press conference, ‘The Last Stylebender’ had little to say, which led people to believe that he may not be in good spirits. But that isn’t the case.

The former UFC champion is arguably one of the UFC’s biggest stars. He had only two losses prior to his UFC 293 fight and proved himself to be one of the best strikers in the game. However, people have started to cast doubts over his abilities after his recent loss. Sean Strickland’s unanimous decision victory didn’t help Adesanya’s case either. Nevertheless, he is unfazed by the outcome of his last fight.

In a recent Instagram story, the former champion shared a picture of himself in fight gear, while stating that nothing has changed. ‘Izzy’ wrote: “34 and still RAW.” Adesanya clapped back at his critics and claimed that his third loss since 2021 hasn’t changed the type of person he is. However, people are still wondering if he will get the rematch for the title again.

Will ‘The Last Stylebender’ get an immediate rematch?

When Israel Adesanya lost to Alex Pereira at UFC 281, he immediately got his rematch at UFC 287. Similarly, Dana White initially mentioned that an immediate rematch against Sean Strickland was a possibility. But then the UFC CEO backtracked on his earlier comments, claiming that it was rather one option he could consider.

Similarly, many people mentioned they were not in favor of seeing Adesanya fight for the title again. One of those people was the UFC commentator and Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier. He suggested that the division should move on from the former champion. Also, the emergence of contenders like Dricus du Plessis and the winner of Paulo Costa vs. Khamzat Chimaev‘s fight at UFC 294 has put Israel Adesanya in a precarious position. It could be possible that ‘Izzy’ might have to take another route to the title.
