Can Conor McGregor's Greenback Records really revolutionize the music industry, or is it just hype?

Conor McGregor isn’t stopping at combat sports or whiskey; he’s got his eye on something much bigger—a path toward billionaire status, much like the legendary Michael Jordan. How? With Proper No. 12 Whiskey already a global hit and his recent part-ownership stake in the BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship), the Irishman is building an empire piece by piece. But what’s the next piece of the puzzle?

This time, it’s not another Octagon victory or a PPV record-breaking fight night. McGregor is making moves in a whole new arena: the music industry. His latest venture, Greenback Records, isn’t just a business—it’s his mission to reshape the music world. Could ‘The Notorious’ redefine the music industry as he once did MMA?

In a recent post highlighted on his Instagram story, Conor Mcgregor shared a reel of rapper and actor, Xzibit, speaking about his association with ‘Greenback Records’. The Irishman had captioned the post, “Greenback Records. Fair Play. Smart Business. Big Success! Join the wave!”

The video features Xzibit in an interview with BBC Radio and he was asked about his new label deal with McGregor’s venture. The veteran rapper responded by stating, “They approached us. It was a new venture, I got to speak to the team. He has a really smart group of guys that just do all of his business stuff together. It was nothing like I would get from any other major.”

According to the official statement by ‘Greenback Records’, it is “the creation of UFC double champ and entrepreneur Conor McGregor, Julian O’Brien & Richard Buck.” With their expertise and McGregor’s drive, Greenback Records promises to shake things up. Joining McGregor’s team is Damion ‘Damizza’ Young, a well-known producer in the hip-hop industry. Damizza, who initially shied away from working with another label, changed his tune after meeting McGregor’s team.

In a statement made on Instagram, Young also stated, “…there’s no better brand and no better fighter to help fight for the music business and join our cause than Conor freaking McGregor.” Sounds promising, right? In fact, in the comment section for Xzibit’s interview, ‘The Notorious’ chimed in with a promise that read, “Artists been getting done in bad on THEIR WORK for too long! No more with Greenback Rec.”

As the dust settles around McGregor’s unexpected plunge into the music industry, it’s clear he has more than profits on his mind. It may sound ambitious, but McGregor has a track record of achieving the improbable. From becoming a UFC legend to establishing his brand ‘Proper No. Twelve’ as a whiskey powerhouse, the former ‘champ-champ’ has shown he knows how to succeed. The music world, a new and different challenge, just might be the next arena for his relentless energy. Because according to the featherweight champion’s coach, ‘The Notorious’ seems to have lost the edge that made him a terrifying figure inside the Octagon!

McGregor doesn’t have the same aura anymore claims ‘El Matador’s coach

Ilia Topuria’s recent knockout of Max Holloway at UFC 308 was nothing short of electrifying, leaving fans wondering who could be next for the Spanish powerhouse. Yet, when Conor McGregor launched a Twitter storm, seemingly calling for a fight with the undefeated Topuria, not everyone was convinced.

Topuria’s coach, Jorge Climent, didn’t hesitate to dampen the flames of excitement. A showdown with McGregor may sound enticing but according to the featherweight champion’s coach during a conversation with Submission Radio, “If (McGregor) really wants to continue fighting always the money fight is the better fight. But I don’t know if (Topuria) is good for him.”

The Irishman has been away from the sport since 2021 and has recently indicated that 2025 might be the year for his long-awaited come-back. However, between business ventures, whiskey empires, and a budding acting career, McGregor’s net worth has soared in the meanwhile. But with his focus diverted, Climent wondered if fighting was even on McGregor’s radar anymore. According to ‘El Matador’s coach, “But I don’t see (McGregor) now like a fighter. I see him like a movie star or, you know, I don’t think he’s really focused. And Ilia is very, very, very professional.”

The Irishman also fanned the flames of speculation as he recently casually suggested on social media that he may be retired, responding to a fan who warned against his comeback. While his fighting career may seem uncertain, his business empire is thriving, raising the question, can Conor McGregor make a successful comeback or should he focus on taking his empire to new heights?
