“I think I am a bad guy that’s trying to be good” – These words by Jon Jones perfectly fit his personality. For over a decade now, Jones has been on top of the food chain at the UFC. With his several legal troubles and violent octagon outings, it is not wrong to term ‘Bones’ as the most infamous ‘bad guy’ in the promotion.
However, the UFC heavyweight champion doesn’t always carry that persona. Sometimes, Jones also puts forward his candid and subtle side, which comes as a shock to his fans. Something similar happened recently, as he appeared in an interview with Kanpai Pandas.

In the interview, Jones touched on several topics from his first heavyweight title defense to the upcoming UFC 293 PPV. However, one of the most interesting segments came when ‘Bones’ addressed the UFC 290 face-off between Israel Adesanya and Dricus Du Plessis. At the PPV, Du Plessis defeated Robert Whittaker to become the next title challenger for Israel Adesanya.
Adesanya, who entered the ring with a fierce mood, engaged in an unfiltered exchange of words with Du Plessis. Further, he used the n-word numerous times. Reacting to the exchange, Jones expressed his dislike of it. Although he did not use any bold words for the UFC middleweight champ because of their newly formed friendship, Jones did state that he was uncomfortable after hearing the back-and-forth.
“I don’t want to talk sh*t because me and Izzy have just become friends,” he said. “But that was uncomfortable. As a black man, I was uncomfortable my damn self. That was just weird,” he added.

However, it wasn’t the case with UFC President Dana White. In the post-fight press conference, White candidly addressed the controversial exchange. His response was not something the fans were expecting. “He’s black. Who gives a sh*t? I could care less, this is the fight business. Israel Adesanya can say whatever he wants to say,” White said.
