Hailing from a town of almost a couple hundred thousand people, Ipswich’s own Arnold Allen will be fighting over 200 miles away from his hometown on July 27. Since joining the UFC in 2015, ‘Almighty’ has shown nothing less than what was expected from him after he sealed a win with a submission on his debut, and went on to rack up a winning streak in double digits. It wasn’t until 2023 that Allen learned about setbacks.

The fight against Giga Chikadze at UFC 304 is a significant opportunity for Arnold Allen in his attempts to get into title contention before losing it all. The 30-year-old, after amassing a 10-fight winning streak, went on a downward spiral with two losses on the trot.

The 10-fight winning streak Arnold Allen went on gave him a sort of aura of invincibility. But then, he fought former 145lbs and current BMF champion, Max Holloway in April 2023, and if you’ve guessed it, the self-proclaimed best boxer in the UFC exposed Allen’s weaknesses.

‘Blessed’ landed a whopping 56 percent of his total strikes to ‘Almighty’s 33 percent.  It’s safe to say that Max Holloway put on a clinic against the Ipswich native, who lost the fight 46-49, 46-49, 47-48 via unanimous decision. Thereafter, in the subsequent fight which was Arnold Allen’s last fight, things played out in a similar way to the last one.

He took on Movsar Evloev, who showcased an all-round performance that helped him defeat ‘Almighty’ with a unanimous decision. Hence, since 2015, Arnold’s Allen has just recently lost a couple of fights in the UFC. But what about his career before UFC?

Has Arnold Allen lost outside the UFC?

Arnold Allen has one loss that most MMA enthusiasts don’t really talk about, and that’s the time when he fought in Conor McGregor‘s former promotion, Cage Warriors. Unlike the Irish megastar, ‘Almighty’ never became a champion, let alone a double champion. However, Allen did have an impressive 5-1 record. The 1 loss in that stat comes from his fight against Polish fighter, Marcin Wrzosek.

Fans may not remember this but Marcin Wrzosek competed once under the UFC banner. However, he lost to Julian Erosa, in his first and only UFC bout. But a year before his advent in Dana White‘s promotion, the Polish fighter defeated Arnold Allen at Cage Warriors 69, and if you’ve guessed it again, it was a unanimous decision loss for ‘Almighty’.

The outcome of the UFC 304 fight’s effect on Arnold Allen’s standing in the featherweight division could be of significant proportions. Will he be able to bounce back against a game Giga Chikadze? Tell us in the comments.
